Scope

Eliminate the parasitic battery drain in the truck by installing a proper battery disconnect switch. This is critical for operational mobility in a rural location.

Tasks

  • Drive to auto parts store in Newport or Claremont (AutoZone, Advance, O'Reilly)
  • Purchase battery terminal disconnect switch + terminal shim/post riser if needed
  • Install disconnect on negative battery terminal
  • Test: disconnect overnight, verify truck starts next morning
  • If battery still fails, replace battery (it may be toasted from repeated draining)

Acceptance Criteria

  • Disconnect switch installed and physically secure
  • Truck starts reliably after sitting 24+ hours with switch disconnected
  • No special tools required to operate the disconnect
  • Receipt or photo of installed switch uploaded to this issue

Budget

$15-30
