Failure evidence

The 2026-08-22 hourly health pulse found the latest browser-journey job failing in tests/e2e/test_mobile_today_handoff_release.py::test_release_artifact_plans_hands_off_and_opens_next_mobile_issue. After starting a five-minute break, injecting one corrupt Today sync record, and reloading, #today-break-status is hidden and empty instead of showing On break · resume in …. Unit suite remains green (2383 passed, 12 skipped).

Acceptance criteria

  • Preserve an active Today break across page reload/recovery of an unrelated corrupt operation record.
  • Keep corrupt-record recovery behavior and message intact.
  • Add a focused regression test that fails before the fix.
  • Full python3 -m pytest tests/ -q passes.
  • The packaged browser journey passes in Gitea Actions.
