Problem

Find currently supports assigning an available issue or assigning and immediately starting it. On mobile, an operator cannot build the rest of Today from Find without interrupting the issue already in progress.

User flow

Add a Queue Today action to available Find results. It claims the issue, adds it to Today, warms offline data, removes it from Find, and keeps Find open. It must not replace or advance the active Today session.

Acceptance criteria

  • Capacity is checked before assignment; a full Today queue leaves the issue unclaimed.
  • Concurrent taps produce one assignment and one Today addition.
  • Success preserves the active item/checkpoint and keeps Find open for more queueing.
  • Assignment failure changes neither Today nor the Find card.
  • If assignment succeeds but local planning fails, report the partial state truthfully and offer a recoverable assigned-item path.
  • At 320–600px, Assign and Queue Today remain >=44px targets and Start now remains reachable without horizontal overflow.
  • Behavioral tests cover success, capacity, single-flight, failure, session preservation, and mobile markup/CSS.

Discovered by the autonomous architecture/mobile/reliability audit on 2026-08-09. No matching title exists across open/closed issue history, and adjacent #411/#413 start work immediately rather than queueing it.
