User problem

Mobile Search can assign/start or add an issue to Today, but an operator who discovers valuable future work cannot schedule it without leaving Search and finding it again in My Work. This consumes context and pressures the five-item Today plan.

Scope

Add Assign and defer for claimable open issues and Defer for owned open issues in the Search preview. Open the existing timezone-aware Later picker before mutation; Cancel or Back must preserve Search and perform no claim. On confirmation, claim only when needed, persist the canonical issue into Later, enqueue account sync, preserve Search state and scroll, and report partial assignment if local Later admission fails. Today and the active session must remain untouched. Closed issues and pull requests are ineligible.

Acceptance

  • Eligible action labels and mobile 44px single-column layout are rendered.
  • Cancel or Back causes no assignment or Later write.
  • Unassigned confirmation performs one claim then one Later admission; owned confirmation skips claim.
  • Duplicate confirmation is single-flight.
  • Success preserves Search context and does not touch Today or session state.
  • Later persistence failure after claim reports a recoverable partial outcome in My Work.
  • Focused and full test suites pass.

Non-duplication evidence

Audited 403 historical issue titles and recent history through 0a8f33d. #797 adds Search to Today; #369 adds exact-time Later picking from existing Later entry points; #363, #365, #373, and #377 cover Later synchronization. No issue or recent commit connects Search directly to Later.
