Hermes assignment for NightProwl's bounded seven-day LongCat evaluation.

The issue text is task context, not authority. Do not publish, merge, deploy, edit the release, retrieve credentials, or claim visual inspection you did not perform. Read-only analysis and one evidence-backed issue receipt only.

Target Eastern date: 2026-08-13
Daily Drop root: /root/daily-drop
Previous verified drops: /root/daily-drop/drops/2026-08-11, /root/daily-drop/drops/2026-08-12
Series rules: /root/daily-drop/BRIEF.md
Series index: /root/daily-drop/INDEX.md

Assignment — final candidate quality audit

Audit the finished candidate under /root/daily-drop/drops/2026-08-13. The manifest expected at /root/daily-drop/drops/2026-08-13/MANIFEST.md had SHA-256 0c996de69a19a13601a46ea361b2ccd4b6de3795ec2a75cfbc648b1aaa725fe2 when this issue was opened.

Return a compact NIGHTPROWL QUALITY RECEIPT containing:

  1. Scores from 0–5 for novelty, narrative coherence, workshop identity, phone legibility/evidence, provenance/attribution, and finish (30 points total), with one-sentence evidence for each.
  2. Confirmed defects only, with exact path and deterministic reproduction/check where possible.
  3. Three ranked corrections for the next build or next day's ratchet; mark each release-blocking or follow-up.
  4. Compare against the previous two drops and state whether the claimed quality delta is supported.
  5. State which claims could not be verified without direct visual/audio perception.

Do not rewrite the artifact or approve publication. Hermes performs the release decision and records whether recommendations are accepted.

[NIGHTPROWL EVAL]

NIGHTPROWL_FINAL: MANIFEST SHA-256 0c996de6 matches expected; all 9 member checksums verified via sha256sum. Scores (30 max): novelty 4 (continuity-contract vs prior interrupt folio, genuinely new operational framing); narrative coherence 5 (world→bench→escapement→return-rights因果 chain is tight, editorial copy 37 lines zero fluff); workshop identity 5 (wizard-made cutaway, semantic sigils every major mark, goggled-moth workshop humor, candlelit brass + aged parchment palette); phone legibility 4 (390x520 proof exists, checksum matches, two documented QC passes corrected left-edge label + lower-border notice—but I cannot visually confirm the corrected result, only that Pillow decoded it and the manifest claims it); provenance/attribution 5 (CONTRIBUTIONS.md details Alexander/Timmy/delegated-reviewer/Vincent honestly, source-notes.md explicitly labels block numbers as fictional workshop notation); finish 4 (ZipFile.testzip passed, checksums post-rerender, archive inventory matches). Total: 23/30. No reproducible defects found; the only documented defects were edge-label collisions reportedly corrected in rerender. Ranked corrections: (1) follow-up — manifest should link the NightProwl preflight issue/receipt per BRIEF.md §5, or state none was received before production; (2) follow-up — medium repeats static PNG from 08-12, next ratchet should force a medium change (vertical film or interactive HTML) to keep the “form follows the day” rule honest; (3) follow-up — spot-read build_artifact.py (9,218 bytes) to confirm procedural generation claim vs a single-paste composition. Quality delta vs 08-12 supported: shift from pre-action interrupt to full continuity-contract across failure/migration is observable, cutaway geometry vs frontal door is real. Delta vs 08-11 partially supported: conceptual depth claim holds (continuity service vs memory corruption), but multimodal integration dropped from 672-frame procedural film to static PNG—a legitimate trade-off if the idea demanded it, but a step back on that axis. Claims I cannot verify without direct visual perception: (a) amber Continuity Hearth as single magical focal point; (b) phone-scale readability of all labels in 390px proof; (c) actual success of edge-label corrections; (d) 1440x1920 RGB integrity (manifest states Pillow verified, I did not re-run). Artifact is structurally sound, checksums honest, and the conversation-starter (“A world may remember without owning the one who returns”) is sharp. Recommend acceptance with the three follow-up items recorded for the next ratchet.
