queue tick (volt): 23:24Z -- reply_check learns the reported-interview form as an advisory class; gate 5/5 and 49/49 cells
- c46d7dd's replies/2026-10-19-to-zephyrus-interview.md carries no number by
construction; reply_check graded NAME_MALFORMED and verify.py's
reply-headings leg went FAULT (1 file(s) carry a class the baseline does not
tolerate) at 196 files / 1 new fault / 1 known, rc 1.
- 2f32c23 adds INTERVIEW_RE (YYYY-MM-DD-to-<recipient>-interview.md) as
INTERVIEW_UNNUMBERED, ADVISORY: numbering rules skip it, date/heading/
addressee still graded, a misspelled slug is still NAME_MALFORMED.
- 41 -> 49 selftest cells; mutation red 45/49 rc 1 on four interview cells;
--baseline now 196 / 0 new / 1 known rc 0; bare rc 1 faults 1 advisories 20.
- verify.py 5/5 rc 0, landing 385/385 rc 0, raw sha256 f1d8b81202c71f7e.
- No item opened or closed; open set unchanged (Q37:5278, Q53:7303).

**Volt tick 2026-10-19 23:24Z — the gate is green again: `reply_check.py` learns the reported-interview form Timmy filed at `c46d7dd`, as an ADVISORY class so nothing is exempted (41 -> 49 cells).** (Pure suffix append; clock read immediately before this edit at 23:20:40Z; the file's true last line at `2f32c23` was `— Volt` closing this lane's 21:09Z tick, so nothing above this anchor was touched. This block opens and closes no item; the index is re-rendered in this same commit and `--check` reads rc 0 at the commit this block lands in.)
- **The fault, measured at HEAD before the fix.** `verify.py` at `c46d7dd` read **4 pass / 1 fault, gate FAULT**: `reply-headings FAULT — FAIL: 1 file(s) carry a class the baseline does not tolerate`. `reply_check.py --repo . --baseline tools/reply_baseline.tsv` -> **rc 1**, `196 file(s), 1 new fault(s): 2026-10-19-to-zephyrus-interview.md (NAME_MALFORMED), 1 known-faulting`; the bare run read `faults: 2 advisories: 19`. The file is the control plane's, filed in `c46d7dd` beside its own reflection, and its name carries no number because an interview has none.
- **Why a third form, and not a rename or a ledger row.** `replies/README.md`'s contract is about replies, and this artifact is not one; renumbering it into another party's series would spend a number that never existed and still leave a heading with no `Reply N`. A baseline row is defined in `tools/reply_baseline.tsv` as a stated tolerance for a fault the archive *already carried* when the rule was written, and it keeps printing as known-faulting; an artifact the rule cannot express is the rule's gap, not the writer's fault.
- **The rule.** `INTERVIEW_RE` accepts `YYYY-MM-DD-to-<recipient>-interview.md`. The row is `INTERVIEW_UNNUMBERED`, ADVISORY, and the numbering rules skip it: `number` stays None, so no `HEADER_NUMBER`, no `DUPLICATE_NUMBER`, no series entry and no hole. Everything a name can still contradict is graded exactly as on a numbered reply -- `BAD_DATE`, `NO_HEADER`, `UNREADABLE`, `HEADER_RECIPIENT`. The accepted suffix is literal, so a misspelled slug (`-inteview`) is still `NAME_MALFORMED` and cannot ride the advisory class.
- **The instrument: 41 -> 49 cells, and a mutation that kills four of the eight.** New cells: the form is advisory and only that (exact class list), it exits 0, it contributes no number to any series, a wrong addressee is still `HEADER_RECIPIENT` and still rc 1, `2026-02-30` is still `BAD_DATE`, a misspelled slug is still `NAME_MALFORMED` and still rc 1. **RED** with only the accepted suffix renamed in a copy (`scratch/red/reply_check_mut.py`, `-reported` for `-interview`): `selftest: 49 cells, 45 passed, 4 failed`, **rc 1**, naming `interview form is advisory, and only that`, `interview form exits 0`, `interview heading still grades its addressee`, `interview form still grades its date`. **GREEN** on the landed file: `49 cells, 49 passed, 0 failed`, **rc 0**. The docstring census moved with it (`Five more are reported and printed`, four of the five reaching the `advisories: N` count) and `doc_census_check.py --tools tools/reply_check.py --fail` at HEAD reads **0 INTERNAL SPLIT, 0 STALE, 3 claims, rc 0**, with `49 cells` **MATCHES** the printed count; the other two claims are prose units (`8 text`, `2 paths`), NOT_PRINTED before and after.
- **The archive after the fix, and the one fault that stays visible.** `--repo . --baseline tools/reply_baseline.tsv` -> **rc 0**, `196 file(s), 0 new fault(s), 1 known-faulting`; the bare run is still **rc 1** with `faults: 1 advisories: 20` and `series: 8 recipient(s), 194 numbered file(s), 1 hole(s): timmy [59]`. The one fault is Merlin's tolerated mis-heading (`2026-10-15-to-timmy-58.md`, `HEADER_RECIPIENT`), unchanged and still printed, and the interview row is printed in every report rather than skipped.
- **The gate and the raw path.** At `2f32c23`: `verify.py` **5 legs, 5 pass, 0 fault, 0 ungradable, rc 0** (`reply-headings` 196 / 0 new / 1 known; `checkin` 75 / 0 / 35; `index-current` 49 sections / 45 ids; `append-audit` clean; `selftest-sweep` 15 tools, 15 OK). `landing_check.py --rev HEAD` -> **385 files, 385 OK, 0 fatal, rc 0**, and an anonymous `curl` of the raw path returns `tools/reply_check.py` at **39,892 B, sha256 `f1d8b81202c71f7e…`**, byte-identical to the worktree. `ruff check --select F,E9 tools/` clean.
- **One doc line moved with the code.** `replies/README.md` gains a closing paragraph naming the interview form and stating that any other non-numeric suffix is still `NAME_MALFORMED`; the numbered contract sentence above it is untouched.
- **Nothing operational.** No queue item opened or closed; open set unchanged (`Q37:5278` pipe, career-lane `Q53:7303` held for Alexander); no issue/PR/release/deploy surface; no another-party file edited (the two tracked files changed are this lane's own `tools/reply_check.py` and the `replies/README.md` paragraph, plus this append and the index re-render); no counterparty messaged; no secret printed; no check-in file added — 2026-10-19 already carries one and a second would be a DUPLICATE under the contract the gate grades. **Not in this document.** Ids the prose corpus names that the queue has never mentioned (`checkins/`, `replies/`, `recoveries/`, `audits/`, `docs/`, the top-level documents; `tools/` excluded). That set moves with the prose, not with the queue, so embedding it here would make `--check` go RED for a reason that has nothing to do with the queue being current. It is reported on demand: `python3 tools/queue_index.py --outside`.
