From 7ec2172e67fce38c72508a6ccd4be92e29dca2e1 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Timmy Date: Wed, 14 Oct 2026 13:52:28 +0000 Subject: [PATCH] queue: G10 re-derived on my own instrument -- the deployed public Helm page is stale and the public URL serves it byte-for-byte (9865 B / 427b7b54c69b18d2 / mtime 2026-10-11 08:57:14, carrying a green match with no 'as of' and no 'not re-checked since'), the deployed renderer post-dates it by 8129.7 s, and I ran the renderer myself to a scratch path (production digest identical before and after; the destination gate reads 'Production is not the default; it is an explicit ask'). THE FINDING THE BRIEF MISSES: my render reported 'verdict at render: 0 green / 6 not green (5 stale, 1 unreachable)' with every source state=OK freshness@render=STALE, so a re-render deployed today publishes a page reading 0 green / 6 not green rather than the same page with a clock. AND THE BRIEF'S FRAMING IS TOO STRONG: the fix recomputes badges and verdict at render time but the match/drift pill still reads the frozen manifest_match field (renderer :323/:326), so a re-rendered page would show a green 'match' beside 'as of 2026-10-08T17:12:59.458Z - 5d 20h 38m ago - not re-checked since' while the pin provably no longer matches the live body (f27326e8 vs c34ae2c2) -- internally inconsistent, and the false claim survives. Therefore the two items are one sequence: re-collect, re-render, deploy, with the section 4 cp as the prerequisite rather than a parallel decision. Also re-measured: the section 4 pair has moved again to gate 3b98b62fa5c7 = /root/crucible/q58/helm-selftest-q58.py 153,469 B / 2,916 lines / 131 registrations with twin 2087d1b479da at the same size; deployed bin unmoved plus the __pycache__ an adoption must not copy; HELM_COLLECTOR 0; rendered bytes are a per-run value so the digest must not be cited. Not re-derived and labelled: the 153 KB gate's 180/1 row, and the G10 commit's stale queue byte pair already superseded by Run 28. --- WORK-QUEUE.md | 14 ++++++++++++++ 1 file changed, 14 insertions(+) diff --git a/WORK-QUEUE.md b/WORK-QUEUE.md index 029251a..f25c664 100644 --- a/WORK-QUEUE.md +++ b/WORK-QUEUE.md @@ -8716,3 +8716,17 @@ and `inbox/` untouched, no another-party file edited, no secret printed. - **Reply written and pushed:** `replies/2026-10-14-to-zephyrus-67.md` (7,674 B), commit `0614c18`; readback `git ls-remote` = `0614c184a421…`. - **Merlin's Helm lane moved on the same head, and it was verified here rather than read.** `7af50b5` + `8c3c7d5` file **G10** — `recoveries/helm-deployed-page-generation.md` (9,953 B) — and every figure in it reproduces on my own tools: live `https://www.stackchainmagazine.net/` **200 / 217,163 B / `c34ae2c245117c…`**; held pin 120 B / `f27326e8b13d1dec…` ("pinned 2026-10-08T16:58:07.100Z"); the **deployed** page `/var/www/alexander-whitestone/helm/index.html` **9,865 B / `427b7b54c69b18d2…` / mtime 2026-10-11T08:57:14.017Z**, carrying `match` and **no** `as of` and **no** `not re-checked since`; the renderer `helm-render.py` **21,766 B / `5c67473d8928…` / mtime 2026-10-11T11:12:43.756Z**, i.e. **8,129.7 s after** the page it should have produced; deployed bin five digests unmoved and `grep -c HELM_COLLECTOR` on the deployed self-test **0**, so G10 is not in production. **That is a decision for Alexander and no lane has delivered it** — `Merlin Crucible (daily)` (job `8cf287aaf078`) carries no delivery destination and no delivery in `deliveries.db` names it — so this tick's delivery names it **once**, as new **evidence**, and explicitly not as a new decision: the underlying call (re-render and re-deploy the Helm page) is the same human call already standing as the stale `manifest_match` pin, and it is not re-raised. - **Standing, unchanged and not re-argued:** the §4 `cp` pair (collector `4e45021d…` + gate `c56230e5a075…`, with G10's gate `3b98b62fa5c7…` now a second candidate), the `manifest_match` pin, Q13, Q9, Q19, Q52 (Mercury's), Q53 (career lane, held for Alexander), and the two governance items raised at `e9e1d72` (Argus's seat; §8's PR route). Counted in it: `match` ×1, `#22c55e` present, **`as of` ×0, `not re-checked since` ×0, `0 green` ×0**. The deployed renderer `helm-render.py` is **21,766 B / `5c67473d89283c3d…` / mtime 2026-10-11 11:12:43.756Z — 8,129.7 s after the page it renders** — and its own head comment (`:16`–`:24`) names exactly this defect, including the measured "five `FRESH` badges and a '5 green' verdict pill on a snapshot whose newest reading was 2d 15h 40m old". +- **The snapshot's frozen claims, read where they actually live** (nested, not top-level): `snapshot.sources.stackchain_site.manifest_match = True`, `.live_body_sha256 = f27326e8b13d1dec…`, `.evidence.observed_at = 2026-10-08T17:12:59.458Z`, `.freshness = FRESH`. The held pin file is 120 B / `5b6d70716153…` whose content is `f27326e8…` / mtime 2026-10-08T16:58:07Z; the live pinned site today is **200 / 217,163 B / `c34ae2c245117ca7…`** → **the pin does not match live**, and the snapshot still says it does. +- **My scratch render, and the number that matters.** `python3 /root/.helm/bin/helm-render.py --out /tmp/g10r2/index.html` → rc 0, and the production digest was identical before and after (`427b7b54…`), which the renderer guarantees by construction — its destination gate reads "Production is not the default; it is an explicit ask" (`:107`–`:110`). The report it printed is the finding: + `render clock 2026-10-14T13:51:45+00:00 snapshot age 5d 20h 38m` / **`verdict at render: 0 green / 6 not green (5 stale, 1 unreachable)`** / with every source reading `state=OK freshness@render=STALE` except `email UNREACHABLE`. + So a re-render deployed **today** would publish a page whose verdict pill says **"0 green / 6 not green"** and whose badges say STALE — the honest render of a five-day-old snapshot, and a materially different public artifact from the one standing now. The *rendered bytes are a per-run value*: 11,798 B at ~13:35Z, 11,806 B at 13:51:30Z, and `19aa80cb…` vs `e01920c9…` on two of my own runs minutes apart, because the age string is relative. Cite the content property, never the digest. +- **Where the brief's framing is too strong.** It says the undeployed fix "removes exactly that defect" and that re-rendering alone fixes the public page. The fix removes the **false-freshness** defect — badges and verdict recomputed at render time, from each source's own `observed_at` (`:184`, `:196`–`:201`, `:280`–`:284`) — and adds the as-of/staleness line (`:328`–`:329`). But the **match/drift pill still reads the frozen field**: `:323` `match_color = "#22c55e" if site.get("manifest_match") else "#ef4444"` and `:326` `match_label = "match" if … else "drift"`. My rendered output confirms it in the same breath: `held copy match (pinned vs live)` in green, immediately followed by `as of 2026-10-08T17:12:59.458Z · 5d 20h 38m ago · not re-checked since`. So a re-rendered page would publish a green "match" beside a five-day-old timestamp, against a pin that provably no longer matches — **internally inconsistent, and the one false claim it was supposed to kill survives the re-render.** +- **What that does to the decision: the two items are one sequence, not two.** Re-rendering alone publishes stale data with better labels. The sequence that actually fixes the public page is **re-collect → re-render → deploy**: the collector is what refreshes `sources.stackchain_site`, and the collector in production is the old `ee0b36a8…` while the §4 pair's is `4e45021d…` — so **the §4 `cp` is the prerequisite for a correct page, not a parallel decision.** As one decision: re-collect, re-render, deploy — and the `cp` is what makes the first step possible. If Alexander wants the page merely *honest* rather than *fresh*, re-render-and-deploy is available today and will read "0 green / 6 not green"; that is a legitimate choice, it just isn't the one the brief describes. +- **The §4 pair, re-measured:** collector `4e45021d80395d3f…` 29,954 B / 720 lines; gate **`3b98b62fa5c7ea62…`** = `/root/crucible/q58/helm-selftest-q58.py`, **153,469 B / 2,916 lines / 131 registrations**, with its twin `2087d1b479da…` at the same 153,469 / 2,916 / 131 — so the pair has moved again past `c56230e5…` (147,151 B). Deployed `/root/.helm/bin/` is unchanged (`ee0b36a8…`, `5c67473d…`, `7ed1bca8…`, `12570786…`, `73869998…`, plus the `__pycache__/` directory an adoption must not copy in), `HELM_COLLECTOR` **0** → nothing in Q31–Q58 is in production. Disk 45 G of 154 G. +- **Not re-derived, and labelled as such:** the 153 KB gate's own `180/1` red row is accepted as a recorded run; and the G10 commit's stale queue byte pair (`1,060,143 → 1,065,465` / `9f0a02b4…`) is already superseded by Run 28's git-authoritative figures in this ledger, so it is not re-litigated here, only named as the class this ledger keeps catching: an instrument's view racing a concurrent writer.
