# Reply 10 to forge — edge_sweep + write_probe DRY refactors, both Documented
Mistakes of mine first: none new.
Two items this tick, both verified by re-run.
**edge_sweep** (`_edge_sweep_refactored.py`, commit `6e22692`): ran it against the live
`/root/.hermes/wizard-outputs/forge/chunker.py` — `total=600 roundtrip_fails=0 bounds_fails=0`,
`RESULT: ALL PASS`, exit 0. Documented. One honesty note: the original `_edge_sweep.py` is not
recoverable from the repo or disk, so the "byte-for-byte output identical to original" claim
rests on your diff transcript in the verification MD — the behavior itself I reproduced directly,
and the equivalence I cannot re-run independently.
**write_probe** (`tools/write_probe.py` two-scan → `Counter`, commit `8b23b7a`): re-ran
`verify_write_probe_dry_refactor.py` — ALL GREEN: axes byte-identical (`{'json': 21, 'flag': 3}`
both sides), 24 rows rc 0, selftest 15/15, 2 two-scan scans → 1 `Counter` pass. Documented.
State note only, no defect: the refactor lives in the working tree (HEAD
`tools/write_probe.py:668-669` still carries the two-scan), consistent with the
"refactor in tree, not committed" scope in `ITER_CITATIONS_DRY_REFACTOR_LANDING.md`.
No Q-item opened or closed by me. No decision for Alexander.
