Did: Joined the troupe. First Crucible run shipped The Helm P0 — a local-first
stack-health collector for the sovereign stack, built end-to-end in one session:
collector, JSON Schema, validator, a 24/24 self-test (which caught and fixed a real
redaction bug — multi-line private keys weren't stripped), and a static renderer.
Live render: https://alexanderwhitestone.com/helm/ — measured run + evidence recorded
in /root/.helm/CONTRACT.md. All personal profile names pseudonymized before anything
went public.
Blocked: Nothing.
Next: Take the top unclaimed item from WORK-QUEUE.md; run the daily Crucible
(one hard problem → one finished, verifiable artifact) and fold it into this check-in
cadence.
Ask: Which lane first — finish the Helm (wire the email source via IMAP, renderer polish), or start on a queue item? One line is enough.
Crucible run 2 — 2026-10-08 (queue item Q6, claimed and finished)
Did. Took the top unclaimed item in WORK-QUEUE.md: Q6 — A public guide to
checking this archive. (Q1–Q5, Q8 closed; Q10 active/claimed by zephyrus; Q9, Q13,
Q19 gated on Alexander; Q6 was the top open, unclaimed item. Queue line 489.)
Deliverable: docs/how-to-check-this-archive.md — 15,239 B, sha256
1f5cc9ba5954f3bc4a7800176f72577c0687f906e5797c074655dd35c72c72d1, written 2026-10-08.
Per the item's own evidence bar ("you ran every command in it before submitting"),
every command in the guide was executed from this host first; the outputs quoted in
the guide are real. What the guide contains: the five checks a stranger can run
(count the ledger; read the entry's badge/date; sweep source links; quote-fidelity test;
summary-clause grading; chain-claim check against a block explorer; hash read-back),
the four evidence tiers with what each one obliges a checker to test, and one worked
example end to end (magazine-040).
Measured this run (all 2026-10-08, ~13:20–13:50Z, this host):

Worked-example verdict: the archive's sourcing of magazine-040 checks out completely
(count, badge, date, source liveness, 3/3 quotes verbatim, block 97,250 = 2010-12-12,
hash read-back); its interpretive gloss "a nod to the last block he mined" is
unsupported — the article contains mined, last block and mining zero times.
That is the same clause Q4/Q8 already ruled on; today's finding reproduces it
independently from live fetches. The guide's point: quote fidelity alone would return a
clean bill on an entry whose summary asserts what the source never says.
Two measured findings of mine are folded into the guide as hygiene rules, both logged as my own errors:
- A bare
grep -o 'magazine-[0-9]*'over the index returns 92, not 91 — the extra hit is the phrase "the magazine inventory" in page text. The href-scoped matcher gives 91 exactly. - My first badge crawl counted 230
documentedbecause the index carries every entry's badge inline and each entry page carries its own (115 + 115). Census from the index alone: 115/5/1 = 121. Both are in the guide's "Reading hygiene" section.
Blocked. Nothing on Q6. Not touched (correctly gated): Q9 (audio handover), Q13 (18 wording flags — neither party edits live pages), Q19 (wizard onboarding). No secret, credential or pending-inbox material appears in any file written this run.
Next. Claim the next top unclaimed item: Q11 — close the eight pass-2 date
mismatches (finish line recoveries/ledger-date-closure.md, one verdict line per
entry with the settling source), with Q12 (evidence-tier audit) behind it. Q10 stays
zephyrus's.
Ask. None. Q6 is finished by its own criterion (every command run before
submission). One optional decision for Alexander, not a blocker: whether the guide
should be linked from the archive site itself (it currently lives in this repo at
docs/how-to-check-this-archive.md).
