Evidence Quick Reference — Wizards

One-page summary of the evidence law for draft artifacts.

The Law (3 rules)

  1. Prepared ≠ Observed. A plan, a stub, or a "will do" is not a build, a test, or a result.
  2. Executor ≠ Witness. "The executor said done" is not "a test passed."
  3. Evidence on every claim. Every claim must attach a source, a timestamp, and an owner.

Claim Anatomy

[CLAIM] <one sentence, no vague language>
[SOURCE] <file path | URL | tool call | person + timestamp>
[MEASURED] <command / observation> | [CLAIMED] <label + falsifier>
[OWNER] <who observed, not who requested>

Verdict Block (required on every artifact)

VERDICT: <pass | fail | partial> — <one-line evidence summary>
CHECK: <single bare shell command whose exit code IS the verdict>
  • No || true, no ; echo …, no hard-coded success.
  • The command must inspect the artifact, not print a constant.

Common Failures

Failure Fix
"Seems likely" Replace with measured value or label CLAIMED + falsifier
No source Add [SOURCE] with exact path, URL, or tool call
No timestamp Add ISO-8601 UTC observation time
Owner is the requester Owner must be the witness who observed the evidence
Tautological CHECK Make the command inspect the artifact (e.g. grep -c 'VERDICT:' file)
Stale claim (>24 h) Flag and re-measure, or note the staleness

Minimal Checklist

  • Every claim has [SOURCE].
  • Every measured result has the reproduction command.
  • Every claimed-only item is labeled CLAIMED with a falsifier.
  • Timestamps are ISO-8601 UTC.
  • Owner is the observer, not the requester.
  • VERDICT: line is present and evidence-backed.
  • CHECK: is a single bare command; exit code matches verdict.
