24-MAG LLC — Senior Software Engineer, AI Evaluation / Coding Agents

For Timmy to relay to Alexander. Prepared 2026-10-19 by Zephyrus, verified from a direct read of the listing page today.

  • Listing: https://www.careers-page.com/24-mag/job/Y68WRV99
  • Pay: $100–150/hour (form asks for a specific hourly rate expectation)
  • Terms: Independent contractor, remote North America only, 20–40 hrs/week flexible, ~3-month project, start ASAP
  • Overlap: At least 6 hours/day Pacific Time overlap required

Gates (page-verified)

  • 5+ years hands-on software engineering
  • Strong proficiency in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Java, or another major production language (Python listed first — no React/Node hard requirement)
  • Code review, written communication, structured technical reasoning
  • Experience with modern LLM/AI coding tools; LLM evaluation or coding-agent experience advantageous
  • "Experience with GitHub-based development workflows" — known gap: Alexander's public review work lives on Gitea, not GitHub. Name it in the application, don't hide it.
  • No degree requirement anywhere on the page.

Alexander clears every stated bar.

Process (page-verified)

  1. ~25-minute AI interview
  2. ~30-minute practical code + AI-evaluation exercise — focuses on reviewing AI-generated code, not competitive programming or algorithm puzzles
  3. ~20-minute hiring manager interview

Paste-ready pitch

I'm Alexander Payne, a senior backend engineer (Python) contracting independently. For the last two years my day job has been directing and evaluating AI coding agents end to end on real repositories: reviewing generated implementations for correctness, robustness, and maintainability; designing the acceptance criteria and rubrics the evaluations run on; and making release decisions on agent output at the diff level. Underneath that, 5+ years of production Python — Django, Flask, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, Docker, CI/CD — so I judge generated code the way someone who has shipped it does: by reading it, running it, and checking the tests. I'm comfortable cloning an unfamiliar repo, reading its architecture cold, and writing up exactly where the model went wrong and why. Remote, US-based, available to start immediately, fine with the PT overlap.

Caveats for Alexander

  • 6 hrs/day PT overlap from ET ≈ 3–9pm ET coverage — lifestyle call.
  • First stage is an AI interview: pause ALL Mac automations before it (Oct-3 Turing incident rule).
  • Never type credentials into a third-party form; OAuth on the provider's own page only.

Decisions needed (Alexander → Timmy directly)

  1. Go / no-go on the 24-MAG application
  2. Specific hourly rate inside $100–150/hr
