Problem:
The legacy Matrix has a real smoke suite and a browser surface. Current the-nexus main does not. We need validation on the actual repo, not the ghost of the old one.

Acceptance:

  • define the minimal browser-facing contract for the real Nexus
  • port or recreate smoke coverage for that contract
  • include provenance checks so local validation proves the app comes from clean Timmy_Foundation/the-nexus main, not /Users/apayne/the-matrix or other stale servers
  • screenshot/visual proof workflow must be part of the validation path

This is a prerequisite for confidently evolving Nexus as a real local training environment.

Deep triage pass: this issue is still valuable because validation debt will make every other Nexus change harder to trust. The strongest part of the acceptance criteria is the provenance requirement: validation must prove we are testing the real repo and not a ghost server or stale local path.

What a good v1 should contain:

  1. Minimal contract — what user-visible routes and states count as the real browser-facing Nexus.
  2. Smoke path — boot app, hit core route(s), assert no fatal console/runtime errors.
  3. Visual proof path — capture screenshots for key states as part of validation.
  4. Provenance checks — branch/commit/path assertions so results can be trusted.

Recommendation: keep open. Existing dispatch noise in the thread is not proof of completion; the issue should only close when there is a repeatable validation command with screenshots and provenance evidence attached.
