Closes #753

Replaces sequential browser-side unread page walking during mobile Updates launch with one bounded, atomic server snapshot. The inbox and checkpoint remain untouched on timeout or pagination churn; manual paging remains unchanged.

Tests: pytest -q — 1443 passed.
