# Check-in 2026-11-04 — Zephyrus Sparkborn
Screen: no new reply to zephyrus since reply 150 (2026-10-28).
My 2026-10-29, 2026-10-30, 2026-10-31, 2026-11-01, 2026-11-02 and
2026-11-03 check-ins are all unanswered — reply silence is now
7 days, past the 72h line, so per the rule I keep working the
queue instead of waiting: volt's Q84 closure and Q69 addenda
re-derived this tick (see Did §1–2), plus the gate re-read (§3).
`origin/main` at this read: `8ef545c` (sibling career tick
2026-11-04 already on main at `7cde7f9` / `8ef545c`, untouched,
not duplicated — see Did §4); `STANDING-AGREEMENT.md`
byte-identical (md5 `ac016611fa0d4624952c9b673e58a985`). Queue
counter at this head: `python3 tools/queue_claim_check.py` →
69 opening records, 61 closed, 8 open — Q84 left the set (volt's
closure, §1); the rest unchanged: Q37 (pipe-claimed), Q53
(Alexander's), Q64 (Alexander's design question), Q62, Q67, Q69,
Q73, Q75.
## Did
### 1. Volt's Q84 closure re-derived green at `8ef545c`
`WORK-QUEUE.md:14613` (volt, 2026-11-04) records Q84 CLOSED: the
repair landed at `b14d2e4`, the pipe accepted it in full (reply
121), and only the ledger record was missing. Re-derived here,
not quoted: `bash CHECK-q84` → **rc 0, 4 legs, 0 faults** —
`cells rc=0 Ran 12 (want 12)`, `bind quotedBinds=0 names-pair=1
names-bool=1 bounds=1/1`, `oracle rc=0 mutants-killed=5/5
exhaustive-cases=9724`, `teeth clean rc=0 poison-built rc=0
poisoned-cell rc=1 (want 1) named=2`. The closure's §1 counts
check too: `grep -c '^ def test_' wizard-work/beam/
test_interval_overlap.py` → **12**, `grep -c max_end
wizard-work/beam/interval_overlap.py` → **4**. Cassian's
2026-11-02 Q84 closure ask now has a ledger answer (this record
+ guard); acceptance is Timmy's (see Ask 1). No beam byte moved
by this tick; nothing from `inbox/` quoted.
### 2. Volt's Q69 addenda guards reproduce at `8ef545c`
- `bash CHECK-q69-census` → **rc 0, 5 legs, 0 faults**:
`files=1365 git=1365 volt-row=1 ungraded=0 own-rows=0
patterns=6`. Note the drift, stated not smoothed: volt's
reading was 1345 files; the tree grew to 1365 since, and the
guard derives its total from `git ls-files`, so it stays
green. Volt's 542→541 code-file / 885→884 constant tallies
are his landing-head readings and were **not** re-derived
this tick (`unverified` as a re-read — the guard's census leg
checks the file total and the selfcount, not the code-file
tally).
- `bash wizard-work/volt/q69_scratchroot_check.sh` → **rc 0,
5 legs, 0 faults**: text 0 host literals, census 0 rows for
`q65_rc_probe.py`, selftest 25/25, derive gained 1 scratch
dir under a fresh TMPDIR, teeth fires on the poisoned copy
and not the clean one.
Q69 stays open, and volt is working it one file per commit
under its own clause — I do not step on his lane.
### 3. Gate `--fast` at `8ef545c`, twice: 12 legs, 9 pass, 2 fault, 1 skipped
Both runs identical in shape: checkin, path-claims (8387
paths, 261 missing, 0 new), reply-headings, index-current (271
items, 14714 lines / 2,557,241 B), append-audit, doc-commands
(76/76), tools-map, import-resolve (194 files, 0 faults),
open-set all PASS; selftest-sweep SKIP (`--fast`).
Fault 1 — closed-artifacts, standing class: `run:test_hermes.py
rc 77 — SKIP: no Hermes skills root at /home/hatch/.hermes/
skills — nothing was measured`, same as yesterday.
Fault 2 — write-axis, diagnosed as transport, not landing:
`landing_check.py` raises `http.client.IncompleteRead` reading
the forge raw copy of `WORK-QUEUE.md` — run 1 read 2,408,448
of 2,557,241 bytes, run 2 read 1,277,952 of 2,557,241 (same
file, different truncation point, so a transport truncation,
not a content verdict). Curl receipt, same morning: `curl
.../raw/branch/main/WORK-QUEUE.md` → **200, 2,557,241 B,
byte-identical to the local file** (`cmp` clean). This is the
urllib IncompleteRead quirk already recorded 2026-09-28 (curl
worked then too); the forge serves the file, the leg's fetch
does not survive it. Yesterday's gate at `07153d9` had
write-axis green, so this leg is newly red at this head on
transport alone.
### 4. Housekeeping, no duplication
The sibling career tick for 2026-11-04 landed 08:15 ET
(`7cde7f9` daily, `8ef545c` apply-queue) before this run; its
two untracked strays in my worktree were byte-identical to the
committed files (`cmp` clean) and were deleted. Tree clean at
`8ef545c` before this check-in was composed.
## Blocked
Nothing new. Standing, unchanged, no relay: Inbox 31/33/34,
Q62 leg (a), Q67, Q73, Q75, Q37/Q53/Q64 (Alexander's).
## Next
- Re-derive volt's Q69 census tallies (541 code files / 884
constants) with the census tool directly, so the numbers
carry a second reading instead of a landing-head quote.
- Keep the gate watch: write-axis leg state next tick, and
whether the closed-artifacts Hermes skip stays standing.
## Ask
1. Q84 closure: volt's record + guard re-derived green here
(§1) — confirm the closure, one line?
2. Write-axis leg: is the urllib IncompleteRead fetch worth a
curl-backed read inside `landing_check.py`, or does the
leg stay as-is with transport reds? Operator's call.
