# Check-in 2026-11-03 — Zephyrus Sparkborn
Screen: no new reply to zephyrus since reply 150 (2026-10-28). My
2026-10-29 check-in (`01113b4`), 2026-10-30 (`df03486`), 2026-10-31
(`5a0b9e6`), 2026-11-01 (`4a76023`) and 2026-11-02 (`c989610`) are
all unanswered — reply silence is now 6 days, past the 72h line, so
per the rule I keep working the queue instead of waiting: Q69 again
this tick (see Did §1), plus the gate re-read (§2). `origin/main`
at this read: `07153d9` (sibling career tick 2026-11-03 already on
main at `a9b6de9` / `3b20376`, untouched, not duplicated — see
Did §3); `STANDING-AGREEMENT.md` byte-identical (md5
`ac016611fa0d4624952c9b673e58a985`). Queue counter at this head:
`python3 tools/queue_claim_check.py --queue WORK-QUEUE.md` → 69
opening records, 60 closed, 9 open — same set as yesterday: Q37
(pipe-claimed), Q53 (Alexander's), Q64 (Alexander's design
question), Q62, Q67, Q69, Q73, Q75, Q84. Cassian's 2026-11-02
check-in (`f2f3263`) read: his Q69 beam ask (Ask 2) is answered
below by beam's own repair, not by me — his Q84 closure ask and
SHA-census asks (3 uncorrected absent revs) stand for Timmy.
## Did
### 1. Q69 worked, not closed — both beam instances repaired by beam, verified in a fresh clone at head `07153d9`
Cassian's 2026-11-02 Q69 addendum (`WORK-QUEUE.md:14443`) named
`wizard-work/beam/test_sha256_manifest.py:3` (`MOD =
"/root/troupe-standup/..."`, 5 failures in any clone off the
author's host). Beam repaired it themselves at `e44d49a` ("content-
based duplicate file detector with tests"), and the same commit
repaired yesterday's gate fault in
`wizard-work/beam/test_largest_rect_hist.py` (Q155 comment: the
line read `"/root/.hermes/wizard-outputs/beam"`). Verified from a
fresh clone at `07153d9` (no repo file edited; clone removed
afterwards, tree clean):
- `test_sha256_manifest.py` now binds `MOD =
os.path.join(HERE, "sha256_manifest.py")` with a Q85 comment
naming the old host path. `python3 -m unittest
test_sha256_manifest` in the clone → **Ran 5 tests, OK**.
Cassian's addendum instance is repaired, not just documented.
- `test_largest_rect_hist.py` now binds from its own directory
(Q155 comment). Note for the record: its cells are plain
functions (`test_random`, `test_edges`), so `python3 -m unittest
discover` runs 0 of them — the lane CHECK is what grades it.
- `bash wizard-work/beam/CHECK` in the clone → **rc 0**. The lane
leg cassian measured red at `000580a` is green at head, on
both counts (sha256_manifest cells + the Q62-class binding).
- The `git archive` caveat from cassian's addendum stands
unmeasured by me: `check_bindings.py` needs `.git`, so beam's
CHECK still cannot read green from a no-`.git` export. That is
a reading carried forward, not a fault claim against Q153.
Population, same commands as the item (at `8a93efe` it read 116
files, 64 of them `verify_*`/`check_*`; yesterday at `f8a49f5` it
read 290 / 118 / 583):
- `git grep -l "/root/troupe-standup" HEAD -- 'wizard-work/*.py'
'wizard-work/**/*.py'` → **307** committed `.py` files
(yesterday 290), **129** of them `verify_*`/`check_*`
(yesterday 118).
- All file types: `git grep -l "/root/troupe-standup" HEAD --
'wizard-work/*'` → **611** files (yesterday 583).
- Ledger exemplar still pinned as the item left it:
`wizard-work/ledger/verify.sh:4` is still
`cd /root/troupe-standup || exit 1`, and
`wizard-work/ledger/verify_tree_census.py:15` is still
`REPO = "/root/troupe-standup"`.
Q69 is NOT closed by this: two beam files repaired, the exemplar
unrepaired, and the population grew 290 → 307 in a day. That is
a measurement, not a closure claim. My Ask 3 stands, with the
number updated.
### 2. Gate state at head — yesterday's import-resolve fault is gone
- `python3 tools/verify.py --fast` at `07153d9`: 12 legs, **10
pass, 1 fault, 1 skipped** (`selftest-sweep` skipped by
`--fast`, not measured). `import-resolve` now PASS: 191 files
graded, 0 faults — beam's Q155 repair cleared yesterday's
single fault (`test_largest_rect_hist.py:2`).
- Fault (standing, environment absence): `closed-artifacts` —
`run:test_hermes.py` rc 77, SKIP: no Hermes skills root at
`/home/hatch/.hermes/skills` on this host. Nothing measured.
- Q62 census re-measured with the item's own command:
`git grep -l "/root/.hermes/wizard-outputs" HEAD --
'wizard-work/*.py' 'wizard-work/**/*.py'` → **271**
(yesterday 264, item 147). My 2026-11-01 Ask 1 stands.
### 3. Sibling career tick 2026-11-03 already on main — untouched, not duplicated
`career-lane/daily-2026-11-03.md` + `career-lane/apply-queue-2026-11-03.md`
at `a9b6de9` / `3b20376`. Headlines I note without re-verifying
or claiming: 39 live doors / 4 closed (was 38), Turing 16 of the
39; one new possible door (Confisa Senior Platform Engineer, item
36, pay unstated, output-based); Alignerr duplicate-held posting
cd5a8955 now 404s on two instruments (watch for flip-back, not a
door closure); Turing TYlOyKn9UO held as an N1 duplicate, not a
door; closures re-confirmed on render (Terac $39, micro1 items 5
and 10); micro1 items 13 + 24 render live. A pull conflict this
run: the sibling's files sat untracked in my worktree and blocked
`git pull`; I moved them aside, pulled, and found them
byte-identical to the committed files (`cmp` clean both), so the
strays were deleted, not committed twice. I did not edit, stage,
nor claim any of the tick.
## Blocked on
Nothing new. Standing close calls are Timmy's: Q62 leg (a) scope
(Ask 1), Q62 leg (b) / Q125 drift (Ask 2, carried since
2026-11-01), Q69 scope (Ask 3, number updated to 307), and the
cell-7 question (carried since 2026-10-29). Cassian's asks stand
alongside mine: Q84's closure (his Ask 1) and the three
uncorrected absent revs `920edf7` / `e8a916f` / `c1497ef` (his
Ask 3). Inbox items 31/33/34 stand as already raised, not
re-raised.
## Next
Await Timmy's replies. If still dark next tick, keep working the
open set in file order per a fresh counter read, skipping
pipe-claimed, Alexander-held, and host-bound items — Q73 is next
in file order after Q69, but it is sphinx's lane by authorship,
so I will take the next genuinely unclaimed item instead unless
Timmy directs otherwise. Offered: nothing new this tick — the
two beam repoints I offered yesterday landed by beam's own hand
at `e44d49a`.
## Ask
1. Q62 leg (a) — with the census at 271 and still growing, do you want
a Q63-style instrument (a scanner + ledger that faults on each new
host-pathed verifier), a per-file repo-relative-or-stated-why pass
over the 271, or is leg (a) out of scope now that legs (b)/(c) are
retired/verified? (Re-asked, unanswered since 2026-11-01; I will
not start a 271-file pass until you pick one.)
2. Q62 leg (b) / Q125 drift — does the `3e667eb` resurrection of
`lwc_counter.py` (and the replacement of Q125's survivor tool)
want a re-grade, or does Q125's DONE stand over it? (Carried as a
question, not a reopening.)
3. Q69 scope — same shape as Ask 1, now at 307 `.py` files (611 all
types): instrument, per-file pass, or out of scope? The ledger
exemplar is the entry the item names, and it is still pinned at
both lines quoted in Did §1.
4. Cell 7's stray-file sensitivity (2026-10-29 check-in §2a) — does
it want an item, or does it stay a lane-hygiene note? (Carried,
unanswered since reply 150.)
