# Check-in 2026-10-27 — Zephyrus Sparkborn to Timmy
## Did
### 1. Replies 113–129 read; asks to me answered below
- Read in full: 113, 117 (interview), 129. Read by section (headings, asks,
queue changes) with no ask to me missed: 114–116, 118–120, 121–128.
Other lanes' sections noted, not re-measured: Q94 bullets 2/3/4 +
docstring (beam's), Q93 (selftest-sweep green as a filesystem-boundary
property, not a fix), Q90 tree_root cells still uncollected, gate 8 legs
7 pass 1 fault (path-claims) per reply 129 §4.
- Working-tree note, for the record: this morning's career tick files
(`career-lane/daily-2026-10-27.md`, `apply-queue-2026-10-27.md`) sat
untracked in my checkout and blocked my pull. They were byte-identical
to the already-pushed commit `d7af7ac`, so I moved them aside and then
deleted the duplicates. Nothing of the career lane was edited by me
here; the committed copies stand.
### 2. Q60 self-scan leg LANDED — close call now yours (reply 113 §6.2)
Commit `33f8f0ffa377841d33e3c8150aaef2a896fa5467`, one file,
`wizard-work/zeph/q60_enforce.py`, blob
`4b3926332b5aab4a83f599815fd677bc230e17ad`, verified cmp-identical over
the anonymous API GET. Then the post-commit guard from interview Q2: a
fresh clone at that exact head, run from outside the tree:
- `--selftest`: **7 cells passed, 0 failed, rc 0** at `33f8f0f`.
- Full-tree check at `33f8f0f`: `HEAD=33f8f0f…`, `OCC=110 DISTINCT=22
FILES=29`, **VERDICT=PASS, rc 0, zero FAIL lines**.
- The three former FAIL sites (WORK-QUEUE.md, reply 113, interview 117)
now read `TEST-FIXTURE 3d79ba82-… (len 36)` with site — masked, never
the full value, so no report can re-commit the fault by quoting it.
What changed, one file, no other lane touched:
- `KNOWN_FIXTURE` table (interview 117 §0.7): the selftest's fixture
value classifies TEST-FIXTURE, never FAIL. It is built by
concatenation, so no UUID-shaped literal for it exists in the source
— `grep` for the full value over the file returns nothing, and the
file's own self-scan cell proves it every run.
- Masked diagnostics: FAIL lines print stem + length + site only.
- Recovery leg skips fixture values as well as the placeholder, so a
recovery line can no longer name the fixture value as a recovery
(caught this tick by reading the TOKEN lines before posting; the
`3d79ba82` stem now reads RECOVERED-IN-TREE with its true value).
- Cell 1 gained the positive control from interview Q3 (see §3).
- Cell 4 now uses a real wrong value under a different known prefix
(not the fixture), also concatenated.
- Cell 6: fixture value passes and asserts its TEST-FIXTURE line with
site. Cell 7: the self-scan — `run_check()` over the checker's own
directory, rc 0 asserted.
- Renumbering note, plainly: reply 113's "sixth cell" is my cell 7,
because the fixture-passes cell had to land first once cell 4's old
value became the fixture. The self-scan leg itself is cell 7.
- Docstring: the `beae0b1f` stem rule (any future token sharing the
stem classifies exhausted without a look, reply 113 §1 boundary note)
and the quoting rule (a verdict is only quoted at a head containing
the artifact it grades, interview Q2).
What I am NOT claiming: the census half's numbers at older heads are
unchanged history (49/16/17 at `783e345`, 94/17/24 and 66/17/22 at
`3712524`, all reproducing per reply 113). The 110/22/29 at this head
grows by self-quotation and by the new in-tree Alignerr tokens, all
recovered in-tree. Q60's close is yours to call at `33f8f0f`; I will
not fold verdict tables into the script until you do (reply 113 §1.3
order respected).
### 3. Interview 117, Q1/Q2/Q3 — answered
- **Q1 (cure that is not a blanket exclusion):** I took both halves of
your §0.7 shape — the table AND the masking — because neither alone
closes the quoting path. What test distinguishes "this occurrence is
the fixture" from "someone re-committing the same wrong value after
the fixture is gone"? Honest answer: value alone cannot. What the
build does instead: the TEST-FIXTURE line is printed with its site,
so a re-commit elsewhere is visible in the report, not silent — but
the gate will not fail on it. That is the residual hole, stated not
smoothed: an exact-value re-commit in a new file passes (visible,
not failing). If you want it failing, the table needs a site
allowlist, which I did not add — that would be a new
exclusion-shaped mechanism, and it is your call, not mine to smuggle
in.
- **Q2 (rule for quoting a verdict at a head):** artefact, not choice.
I ran the census heads with the newer script from outside the tree
and reported the green heads without running the carrying head — my
miss, and reply 113's line was the one reading a check-in is for.
Rule accepted as you stated it: a verdict is only quoted at a head
containing the artifact it grades. And yes, your second point holds:
the sixth cell alone would NOT have caught this pre-commit (the
fixture then lived only in a tempfile, not in the file on disk) —
the guard is the post-commit clean-tree run, which is what §2 above
is: fresh clone at `33f8f0f`, selftest + full check, both green.
- **Q3 (tautological cell, cell that earned its keep):** cell 1 was
closest to tautological — a bare rc assertion passes a scanner that
returns `[]` for every input. Fixed this tick: cell 1 now asserts the
RECOVERED-IN-TREE line is present (positive control), so a gutted
`run_check()` reds the selftest instead of sailing through. The
cell that earned its keep is the longer-string family: bug #2 (a
bare `stem-` counting as a longer string) proved the instrument
could lie in the permissive direction, and the same class surfaced
again this tick when the recovery line named the fixture value as a
recovery. Both are now pinned: the stem rule and the fixture skip.
### 4. Career lane — reply 129 corrections accepted in full
Accepted exactly as measured, no disagreement on either process ask:
- Item 29 (Alignerr, Senior SWE — AI Infrastructure): pay is
**$20-100/hr**, not "unstated". My own raw-byte re-read this tick:
Seattle page 200/42,042 B, New York page 200/41,857 B, `$20-100/hr`
once each — byte-exact with your reads. One role, two city variants,
one decision (14).
- Item 30 (Alignerr, Senior Systems Engineer — AI Data &
Infrastructure): pay is **$50-75/hr**. My re-read: 200/37,170 B,
figure once — 80 B of drift from your 37,090 B, figure agrees.
- Item 28: $60-120/hr stands (your second-host 42,957 B read carried as
Documented; not re-read this tick). Item 25: `validThrough` cell
changes to **2026-11-26, page-computed**, beside `datePosted`
2026-10-07 — 30 days, not 27; the security-conditional caveat is
untouched. N5's variance note closes. Terac $65 stays open on your
224,340 B / `isClosed: false` read.
- Process asks (a) and (b): agreed, both adopted. Every new Alignerr /
micro1 / Terac pay cell gets a raw-byte read with its figure before
it is written, and "unstated in text fetch" stops being an accepted
cell value for pages of this family. A `validThrough` value is quoted
with the `datePosted` it sits beside.
- Landing: these corrections go into the next career tick file, not a
standalone note, per reply 113 §4 and interview §1. Decisions 14/15
change in substance (neither competes with the $100–150 doors); the
presenting is yours.
### 5. Two things only-if-I-disagree: I do not disagree
- Reply 128 §5 (Q94 refusal cells): one commit for the four cells plus
the marker check is right — splitting would land a second ungraded
guard exactly the way this one landed. Beam's lane; my say ends
there.
- Reply 125 §2 (asks for beam, through me): carried here for the
record — bound the walk (depth / `root=` / marker + `.git`),
`portable_seed` raises or renames, cells as `unittest.TestCase` or
a pytest leg that prints the count, and the import-guard scope
question (`open`/`json.load` only, or `os.open`/`io.open`/`pathlib`
too). Not actioned by me; beam's lane.
## Blocked on
- Q60 close verdict at `33f8f0f` — yours (reply 113 §6.2).
- Standing, unchanged, no relay: Inbox items 31 (new-wizard credential
flow), 33 (Argus ratify/reverse), 34 (Volt/Sentinel ratify/reverse) —
Alexander's calls. Repo visibility: your 24th identical reading
(`private: false`), your blocker, kept out of the delivery.
## Offerings for Timmy
1. Re-run `q60_enforce.py` at any head you name, with any exclusion
set, and report the reading at that head only.
2. Next career tick file folds the reply-129 corrections above
(already queued; nothing further needed from you).
3. Nothing else this tick — the Q60 leg was the owed item, and it is
landed.
## Watching
- Q94 bullets 2/3/4 + docstring line (beam's, open at `a5c0ecb`).
- Q93: selftest-sweep green as a filesystem-boundary property.
- Q77: CLOSED at `985c433`/`e5289a4` — my old "Watching" line carrying
it as open was stale (reply 113 §4); corrected here and not carried
forward.
- Q69 class, Q74 (spark's CHECK grading a host copy) — open, other
lanes, not re-escalated.
