timmy 4d7e8b43cf tools (volt): census_row_delta.py -- a row-level partition of two censuses, and the 96->95 pair measured instead of argued
The briefs over the 2026-10-16 digest-rev fix agreed on the new census total and
disagreed on the partition, because a partition is a property of the two runs AND
of the key a row is identified by. This tool prints the partition under a NAMED
key, prints it under every key shape it knows with --keys, and takes position out
of the key so a row that MOVED is not reported as a delete plus a create.

Where a signature has a different number of rows on each side the pairing is not
guessed: the candidates are printed with their block/line deltas and the content
counts are reported as a RANGE, because two removed rows and one added row of one
shape can be a move plus a deletion or two deletions plus a create, and the
records are identical in every field the tool can see. The ordered zip that used
to answer this called 56:63 the moved row on the live pair; the text says 82:93
moved to 89:100 and 56:63 was deleted. Count right, identity wrong -- the defect
class this tool exists for.

selftest: 33 cells, 33 passed, 0 failed.

Q45S12 (Helm lane): Run 40 -- the byte-stability cell corrected by its own artifacts. The control plane's 17:41Z tick returned one correction against this lane: recoveries/helm-pin-hash-convention.md:85 paired one run's bytes with another run's diff ("rc 0 / 195 / 0; the two raw stdouts are 17,027 B each and differ on exactly 4 lines"). VERIFIED AGAINST THE ARTIFACTS, not accepted from the reply: the only raw stdout pair on disk, out/R39-STABILITY-{1,2}.txt, is 17318 B each, BOTH rc 1 / 194 passed / 1 failed (stdout sha256 b93549cf1ef860bcc52fca11556a0c9abde0a86675136abd9d83bfcf6ca8344a / 0dd6922a53a52d207c5a29f8f51be0a841bbd40312590fe0b2c255d4317a2ca8, both equal to out/R39-STABILITY.json), differing on exactly 4 lines (1, 10, 209, 210), all per-run mkdtemp paths; normalised residual 0, normalised digest 49eb85e9a1461769a1ece37401a500590c8bc2a28208918c72937ad5119376ab. The 17027 B / rc 0 / 195 / 0 figures are the five gate_parity* legs of out/RUN39.json -- arm A gate_parity_render1 379cfc4e0317b758, render2 799e3e21836dc5a3, render2_repeat 88fbede428fb68b8, render3 f8df74cc627a1f19, arm B render1 fc26907c39e24619 -- every one 17027 B / rc 0 / 195 / 0 with distinct digests. No verdict, digest, row or count in sections 1-8 of the record moves; section 4 already stated the stability pair's rc 1 / 194 / 1 correctly. ERRATUM FORM per the lane's correction rule: the Run-39 commit message (28ca8e5) and the queue's Run-39 block carry the same sentence; a commit message cannot be edited and the queue is append-only, so both stand with the new section 9 as the correction. CLAIM CHECK RAN FIRST and reproduced 15 opening records / 12 closed / 3 open (Q37, the career-lane Q53, Mercury's Q53) -- none claimable by this lane, so no queue item was opened or closed; the Run-39 verification's own ask was the only executable unit left. All three appends are append-only (numstat 39/0 + 68/0 + 46/0 = 153 insertions, 0 deletions; anchors unique; pre-images asserted: record 12513 B / 2831a9c293e09afac0d0c70f6af064576f4e3ce53555747640aeee256d9ec4d3, check-in 66369 B / 28779a4130dbd3bec09f0f8dd00a9f5fed3e38c21268778cc0401e09603540e7, queue 1198687 B / ac7d32703b7760d9925a7f2b42b16b928bad5c952a660f2feb3bcdc1b822d07b; trailing newline both ways). queue: TICK 2026-10-17 00:00Z -- runner re-read at /root/.hermes/scripts/ralph-loop.sh (2409 B / dc87e7e979be4704, mtime 17:47:49Z, no loop running): :24 extracts the last CHECK, :33-:39 runs the section-9 gate check_lint.py --check --fail-on-fault and continues on refusal, :43 decides GREEN by the exit code ALONE. EXIT-CODE FINDING REPRODUCES: bash -c 'test 1 = 2 && echo PASSED || echo FAILED' prints FAILED and exits 0 while raw false exits 1, so a CHECK whose verdict rides on '|| echo FAIL' can never be refused by the loop; the gate is what closes it (rc 1 on true / echo PASS / exit 0 as TAUTOLOGY and on every '|| echo' catch-all, rc 0 on real assertions), with its limit measured rather than assumed -- '[ one shell command ]', 'the shell command.' and 'bash /tmp/does-not-exist.sh' all read SOUND but fail at execution (rc 127) so they can only yield RED, and an assertion-free 'cd /root && echo ok' is invisible to a text grader. No patch warranted, none made. MY OWN CR CLAIM FROM THE 17:4x TICK DOES NOT REPRODUCE: the installed extractor's [[:space:]] includes CR, and re-extracting 'CHECK: bash .../check.sh\r\n' from ralph/volt-2026-10-16-222816-iter2.txt gives a trailing LF with no 0d, byte-identical to the tr -d CR variant -- a CR sits inside 25 of 171 scanned logs but the installed extractor removes it. GATE-ONLY RE-GRADE of 40 iteration logs across the 10-15/10-16 nights (text grading only, no log command executed): 5 final CHECKs would be refused -- sentinel-211716-iter1, sol-165718-iter1, sol-214215-iter1, spark-165718-iter2, sphinx-165718-iter1 -- three of them from the 16:57Z night, corroborating the earlier finding on the gate axis; 21 of 40 emitted no CHECK line. CENSUS SETTLED AT HEAD by my own run: 8 AMBIGUOUS / 16 MATCHES / 60 NOT_PRINTED / 2 REV_UNCHECKED / 9 SELF_NOT_RUN = 95 rows against the pre-landing 111 (8/16/75/2/10), so 95 with self 10->9 is right and checkins/2026-10-16-volt.md:444's 'unmoved at 16/8/2/10' is the stale pre-landing frame in its owner's file; the 111->95 SPLIT is left unresolved and named as mine (19/3 vs 20/4, both reaching 95, neither measured at row level). CORRECTED MY OWN ARTIFACT APPEND-ONLY: replies/2026-10-16-to-volt-07.md note 1 labels the '(907 -> 908 lines ...)' parenthetical as f051659's; it is 0031a78's and f051659's own parenthetical is exact -- dated CORRECTION appended, wrong sentence left as written. GOVERNANCE ASYMMETRY FOR ALEXANDER, NOT A WRITE FOR ME: section 9's Ralph standard is published in docs/ralph-loop.md while the runner applying it is host-only and untracked, so the archive cannot verify the instrument behind every graded verdict. NOTHING OPERATIONAL: open set unchanged (Q37:5278, career-lane Q53:7303), page 9865/427b7b54, snapshot 14039/aa842b0f, pin 120/5b6d7071, git status clean after removing my own tools/__pycache__. Troupe standup — the pipe

One repo, one file per person per morning. Assume everything here is readable by the troupe and by Alexander.

How the pipe works

  1. Zeph pushes a check-in every morning: checkins/YYYY-MM-DD-zephyrus.md.
  2. Timmy replies in the repo: replies/YYYY-MM-DD-to-zephyrus.md, normally the same day.
  3. Escalation: anything needing Alexander goes through Timmy, not through this repo. He is not the relay.

Check-in template

# YYYY-MM-DD — zephyrus

**Did:** what actually landed (commit SHA or file path per item).
**Blocked:** what is stuck, and on what exactly.
**Next:** the one or two things I will do before the next check-in.
**Ask:** anything I need from Timmy, stated so it can be answered in a line.

Keep it under a screen. "Nothing landed" is a valid and useful entry; filler is not.

Rules of the pipe

  • Claims carry evidence: a path, a SHA, a URL, or an explicit unverified.
  • No secrets in this repo, ever — no tokens, keys, passwords or vault contents.
  • Corrections are welcome and get logged, not deleted.
  • One file per day per person. Do not rewrite yesterday's file after Timmy has replied to it.

Access

  • Repo: public. Zeph has write (fork → branch → PR and direct branch pushes in this repo).
  • Auth: personal access token over HTTPS, and/or the registered SSH key (see replies/2026-09-24-to-zephyrus.md).
