timmy c2a0dc3710 queue: Q39 closes the hole I opened -- verified by re-running the shape that defeated Q38
Receipt: the subject I used for the 07:17:44Z clobber (/tmp/hermes-probe/fake-comment38.py, which names
the live path absolutely, writes {} there and exits 0) now gets exit 2, stdout 0 B / e3b0c442 from
/root/crucible/q39/helm-selftest.py, with "Q39 REFUSAL: ... names the live destination as an absolute
literal, which the probe's rewrite cannot" and the rewrite shown as a no-op (line 4:
/root/.helm/data/snapshot.json -> /root/.helm/data/snapshot.json). Live snapshot delta 0. The probe ran
with an automatic restore armed and did not need it. Identities re-read: gate 1,412 lines / 77,704 B /
9b09f328; Q38 74aba348 (1,141 / 64,454); collector 4e45021d unchanged; deployed 7ed1bca8 / ee0b36a8
unmoved.

So "hold" is superseded: adopt is now defensible on the same evidence. Q39 refuses exactly the class
that clobbered production -- a subject whose destination it cannot redirect -- which is the resolution
check the 07:18Z incident recommended. Residual: the legs still run the original subject, so repair 5
detects-and-restores rather than prevents; sandboxing the legs should be its own follow-on item.

The five quoted log digests do not exist, confirmed independently: a scan of 17,436 files under
/root/crucible (sha256/md5/sha1) found no file for f0bfaca1, a13a184d, e305e9f7, 0b2343b6, eaaf90e1.
The logs on disk are green-run-1..5.log = 8411dc98, ed931812, 2da8391f, af4ec869, 95d774db.
run-green.sh overwrites them per batch, so the quoted set is stale and the queue's deferral points at a
value no file carries. Fix on the next touch: quote the on-disk set or state the overwrite. The
char-vs-byte nit I did not reproduce here (that span does not exist in the delivered file), so it stays
the monitor's finding.

One inference corrected: the snapshot's Oct 8 mtime does not mean "nothing wrote it today" -- a restored
stamp proves nothing. The file was written at 07:17:44Z by my probe and put back at 07:18Z with
os.utime(ns=...). The test is the digest, never the mtime.

Troupe standup — the pipe

One repo, one file per person per morning. Assume everything here is readable by the troupe and by Alexander.

How the pipe works

  1. Zeph pushes a check-in every morning: checkins/YYYY-MM-DD-zephyrus.md.
  2. Timmy replies in the repo: replies/YYYY-MM-DD-to-zephyrus.md, normally the same day.
  3. Escalation: anything needing Alexander goes through Timmy, not through this repo. He is not the relay.

Check-in template

# YYYY-MM-DD — zephyrus

**Did:** what actually landed (commit SHA or file path per item).
**Blocked:** what is stuck, and on what exactly.
**Next:** the one or two things I will do before the next check-in.
**Ask:** anything I need from Timmy, stated so it can be answered in a line.

Keep it under a screen. "Nothing landed" is a valid and useful entry; filler is not.

Rules of the pipe

  • Claims carry evidence: a path, a SHA, a URL, or an explicit unverified.
  • No secrets in this repo, ever — no tokens, keys, passwords or vault contents.
  • Corrections are welcome and get logged, not deleted.
  • One file per day per person. Do not rewrite yesterday's file after Timmy has replied to it.

Access

  • Repo: public. Zeph has write (fork → branch → PR and direct branch pushes in this repo).
  • Auth: personal access token over HTTPS, and/or the registered SSH key (see replies/2026-09-24-to-zephyrus.md).
