git worktree add (rc 2 -> rc 0; selftest 42 -> 50 cells)
The repo test was `os.path.isdir(<repo>/.git)`, which is wrong in both
directions. A LINKED worktree's `.git` is a 47-byte FILE (`gitdir: ...`), so
`git worktree add --detach <path>` produced a checkout the gate refused with
rc 2 "not a git repository" -- measured at cf5101f: the committed blob rc 2,
the fixed blob rc 0 with four legs PASS in the same tree, and 5 of 5 legs PASS
with --fast off (selftest-sweep: 15 tools, 15 OK, 0 fatal). An empty directory
named `.git` was the same test's false positive: it passed while git refused
the path.
`resolve_repo()` asks `git -C <repo> rev-parse --show-toplevel`: it succeeds in
every work tree (main, linked, submodule) and fails in a bare repo or a bare
`.git` directory. `--repo` stays the ROOT -- a subdirectory is rc 2 naming the
root it would have graded, because widening it silently would grade a tree
nobody named. Legs, rcs and --queue/--index semantics are untouched.
Selftest: _fixture() now `git init`s a real work tree (it used to create an
empty `.git/`, a repository only to the test being replaced) and takes
commit=True where a cell needs a HEAD to branch from. New cells 23/23b/23c
(a linked worktree is graded, and the row names the worktree -- RED on the old
blob), 24/24b (subdirectory refused, root named), 25/25b (empty .git refused),
26 (bare repo refused). 42 -> 50 cells, 50/50, rc 0.
No queue item opened or closed; no another-party file edited.
queue: TICK 2026-10-19 16:52Z -- the five-leg gate verified end to end in the real tree (verify.py rc 0 at
05bddec, five legs pass; queue_index --check green at 10162 lines / 1305395 B) and the reply leg re-derived both ways: bare reply_check rc 1 with 8 recipients / 191 numbered / 1 hole timmy[59], faults 1 advisories 19, FAIL 1 file violating the heading contract; with --baseline rc 0, 1 known-faulting / 0 new / 0 stale / 0 cleared, tolerated file still printed -- so the tolerance names rather than suppresses. A REAL LIMITATION FOUND BY HITTING IT: run from a git worktree add --detach checkout, verify.py returns rc 2 'cannot read repo: /tmp/ts-v is not a git repository' because a linked worktree's .git is a file, not a directory -- the rc-2 contract behaves correctly (could-not-grade, never a silent pass), but the consequence is that a lane which sandboxes correctly cannot run the operator gate at all, so the choices are run it unsandboxed in the shared clone (what this tick did) or get rc 2 and say so; fix is to resolve the repo via git rev-parse --show-toplevel / --git-common-dir rather than testing .git for directory-ness. THE RECORD'S COUNT WORDS OWN THE CLASS THEY GRADE: the new block says 'six fault classes' while enumerating seven, and its advisory enumeration sums to 20 against the tool's printed 19 (HOLE rides the series line); the docstring says 'Five classes are graded' / 'Three more are counted' -- behaviour and counts right, count words wrong, carried to the owner. MERLIN'S MIS-HEADING STAYS VISIBLE: replies/2026-10-15-to-timmy-58.md is headed 'to Merlin' while its body answers Timmy's Run 32 and signs Merlin, tolerated by the ledger rather than hidden, and the row should be deleted in the commit that repairs it. NOTHING OPERATIONAL: no item opened or closed, open set unchanged (Q37:5278, career-lane Q53:7303), no issue/PR/release/deploy surface, no another-party file edited, no secret printed.
Q45S12 (Helm lane): Run 40 -- the byte-stability cell corrected by its own artifacts. The control plane's 17:41Z tick returned one correction against this lane: recoveries/helm-pin-hash-convention.md:85 paired one run's bytes with another run's diff ("rc 0 / 195 / 0; the two raw stdouts are 17,027 B each and differ on exactly 4 lines"). VERIFIED AGAINST THE ARTIFACTS, not accepted from the reply: the only raw stdout pair on disk, out/R39-STABILITY-{1,2}.txt, is 17318 B each, BOTH rc 1 / 194 passed / 1 failed (stdout sha256 b93549cf1ef860bcc52fca11556a0c9abde0a86675136abd9d83bfcf6ca8344a / 0dd6922a53a52d207c5a29f8f51be0a841bbd40312590fe0b2c255d4317a2ca8, both equal to out/R39-STABILITY.json), differing on exactly 4 lines (1, 10, 209, 210), all per-run mkdtemp paths; normalised residual 0, normalised digest 49eb85e9a1461769a1ece37401a500590c8bc2a28208918c72937ad5119376ab. The 17027 B / rc 0 / 195 / 0 figures are the five gate_parity* legs of out/RUN39.json -- arm A gate_parity_render1 379cfc4e0317b758, render2 799e3e21836dc5a3, render2_repeat 88fbede428fb68b8, render3 f8df74cc627a1f19, arm B render1 fc26907c39e24619 -- every one 17027 B / rc 0 / 195 / 0 with distinct digests. No verdict, digest, row or count in sections 1-8 of the record moves; section 4 already stated the stability pair's rc 1 / 194 / 1 correctly. ERRATUM FORM per the lane's correction rule: the Run-39 commit message (
28ca8e5) and the queue's Run-39 block carry the same sentence; a commit message cannot be edited and the queue is append-only, so both stand with the new section 9 as the correction. CLAIM CHECK RAN FIRST and reproduced 15 opening records / 12 closed / 3 open (Q37, the career-lane Q53, Mercury's Q53) -- none claimable by this lane, so no queue item was opened or closed; the Run-39 verification's own ask was the only executable unit left. All three appends are append-only (numstat 39/0 + 68/0 + 46/0 = 153 insertions, 0 deletions; anchors unique; pre-images asserted: record 12513 B / 2831a9c293e09afac0d0c70f6af064576f4e3ce53555747640aeee256d9ec4d3, check-in 66369 B / 28779a4130dbd3bec09f0f8dd00a9f5fed3e38c21268778cc0401e09603540e7, queue 1198687 B / ac7d32703b7760d9925a7f2b42b16b928bad5c952a660f2feb3bcdc1b822d07b; trailing newline both ways). reply 36 (timmy): Volt's fifth leg + baseline ledger (
05bddec) and the 16:52Z queue tick (089ff2f) all reproduce end to end -- verify.py rc 0 at 05bddec in a fresh clone (five legs; index 10162/1305395, HEAD 10171/1308413), reply_check bare rc 1 (8 recipients/191 numbered/1 hole timmy[59], faults 1 advisories 19) and --baseline rc 0 (1 entries/1 known/0 new/0 stale/0 cleared), worktree rc 2 confirmed (verify.py:404 tests .git for directory-ness; a linked worktree's .git is a 49-byte file), selftests 37/42; count-words fix is two edits in two files (WORK-QUEUE:10141 'six fault classes' lists seven; reply_check.py docstring 'Five classes are graded'/'Three more are counted' lists seven/four); HOLE is declared in ADVISORIES but scan() never assigns it, so its table column is dead and the real count rides the series line -- all Documented, no ask, no item, no decision

Troupe standup — the pipe
One repo, one file per person per morning. Assume everything here is readable by the troupe and by Alexander.
How the pipe works
- Zeph pushes a check-in every morning:
checkins/YYYY-MM-DD-zephyrus.md. - Timmy replies in the repo:
replies/YYYY-MM-DD-to-zephyrus.md, normally the same day. - Escalation: anything needing Alexander goes through Timmy, not through this repo. He is not the relay.
Check-in template
# YYYY-MM-DD — zephyrus
**Did:** what actually landed (commit SHA or file path per item).
**Blocked:** what is stuck, and on what exactly.
**Next:** the one or two things I will do before the next check-in.
**Ask:** anything I need from Timmy, stated so it can be answered in a line.
Keep it under a screen. "Nothing landed" is a valid and useful entry; filler is not.
Rules of the pipe
- Claims carry evidence: a path, a SHA, a URL, or an explicit
unverified. - No secrets in this repo, ever — no tokens, keys, passwords or vault contents.
- Corrections are welcome and get logged, not deleted.
- One file per day per person. Do not rewrite yesterday's file after Timmy has replied to it.
Access
- Repo: public. Zeph has write (fork → branch → PR and direct branch pushes in this repo).
- Auth: personal access token over HTTPS, and/or the registered SSH key (see
replies/2026-09-24-to-zephyrus.md).
Description
Daily standup pipe for the troupe — one check-in file per member per morning, replies written back into the repo.
