queue: Q30 DONE verified from this host (finishing SHA adfff7a, landing e2a8246) — all five Helm digests exact, the CLI transcript reproduced line for line (exit 0, 11,806 B, sha 8b839754 at the pinned clock), the destination gate reproduced on both negative paths (exit 2), selftest 119/0 ALL GATES PASS re-run, live page 200/9,865 B/427b7b54 unmoved, landing evidence 200 + cmp-identical on the raw path and the pre-append checkin revision checked from the object store (50,373 B / a5c85462) by reference; the pre-fix revision filed Unrecovered (no 18,929-byte file on the root filesystem, no git history, pyc written after the fix) with the defect Corroborated by mechanism reproduction, C3 (496 lines, not 495), F3 (CONTRACT:102 reproduce line stale as :213 was), and my own M1-M3 filed first; Q31 opened - the collector's entry point, whose default --out is the live snapshot, has never been executed at this revision (snapshot generated_at 2026-10-08T17:12:59.475Z vs collector mtime 2026-10-11 09:06:15Z), and carries the same "no gate has run this path" shape for Alexander's pending collect+render decision; no Helm job (grep -ci helm jobs.json = 0)

re-run and no cron job was added — both remain Alexander's under §4.
- **Left with Alexander, unchanged:** deploy-or-retire, and a scheduled collect+render. Deploying
now needs the explicit `--deploy` flag; the bare command refuses.

**VERIFIED from this host, 2026-10-11 11:20–11:32Z — Q30 is DONE at `adfff7a` (landing
`e2a8246`), graded against the artefacts, not the prose.** Worked back in
`replies/2026-10-11-to-merlin-13.md` (`1d2c521`).
- **Digests exact, all five measured here:** renderer 21,766 B / `5c67473d89283c3d…`, selftest
33,647 B / `7ed1bca8f9da624f…`, CONTRACT 17,657 B / `2c527635ff96eb67…`, snapshot 14,039 B /

`aa842b0fd88037f8…` (mtime `2026-10-08T17:12:59.475780303Z`), live page 9,865 B /

`427b7b54c69b18d2…` (mtime `2026-10-11 08:57:14.017837233Z`). **Grade: Documented.**

- **The CLI transcript reproduced line for line:** `--out … --as-of 2026-10-11T12:00:00Z` → exit

18h 47m`, `verdict at render: 0 green / 6 not green (5 stale, 1 unreachable)`, six per-source

lines, sha256 `8b839754b9e33911ec6d74834e4899a8f77f71c361eec98757d6ef08ad891839`; `--deploy
--out <tmp>` emits the **same** bytes and digest. **Documented.**
- **The destination gate reproduced on both negative paths:** bare command → exit **2**; `--out
/var/www/alexander-whitestone/helm/index.html` → exit **2**, same refusal, `resolve()`
comparison holds; the live page's digest and mtime were unchanged before and after every
command run this tick. **Documented.**
- **Gates re-run here:** `helm-selftest.py` → exit 0, `119 passed, 0 failed`,
`VERDICT: ALL GATES PASS` (log `/tmp/timmy-selftest.log`, sha256 `04f2d7d2ba7ff375…`); G7's
source-order guard is present in the file actually executed. 119 − 102 = 17. **Documented.**
- **Live page still false by design:** `https://alexanderwhitestone.com/helm/` → 200 / 9,865 B,
byte-identical to disk, **5 × `FRESH`**, 0 × `STALE`; the honest page exists only as staged
bytes (11,806 B / `8b839754…`). **Documented.**
- **Landing evidence re-read over the anonymous raw path, `cmp` against disk:** all three files
**200** and byte-identical — `recoveries/helm-cli-entry-point.md` 5,887 /
`dca2fe53fa41a6d0…`, `WORK-QUEUE.md` 453,323 / `5bd574c1883ac97c…`,
`checkins/2026-10-11-merlin.md` 51,637 (post-append). The table's *pre-append* revision was
checked from the object store, not the prose: `git show adfff7a:checkins/2026-10-11-merlin.md`
→ **50,373 B** / `a5c85462a39269db…`, exact. **Documented.**
- **The pre-fix revision is `Unrecovered`; the defect is `Corroborated`.** No file of 18,929 B
exists on the root filesystem (`find / -xdev -size 18929c` → two unrelated files); `/root/.helm`
is not a git repository; the only `helm-render*` copies are the fixed file and a
`__pycache__` `.pyc` written at 11:13:36Z, *after* the fix. So `00d14453d95234ef…`, "18,929 B"
and the `:91`/`:78` traceback are **Testimony only** — consistent, but not re-checkable by
anyone. The defect's existence is **Corroborated** by reply 12's source read (F1), the three
prose attestations, and a mechanism reproduction this tick: lifting the guard back above the
definitions in a copy of the fixed file (`/tmp/timmy-prefix-sim/`) gives exit 1,
`NameError: name 'build_page' is not defined`, and no file written.
- **C3 — "(`:495` of 495 lines)" is one line short.** `nl -ba`: the guard is at **:495**, the file
is **496** lines (`:496` is `sys.exit(main(sys.argv))`); `wc -l` = 496. The guard's line number
is right; the file length is not. No claim moves. Recorded for a one-line ack, not an edit of
anything already pushed.
- **F3 — the reproduce block went stale in the same way `:213` did, and the revision note does
not cover it.** `CONTRACT.md:102` still prints
`python3 /root/.helm/bin/helm-render.py [--out PATH] [--as-of ISO8601]`; copied without flags
that is now the refusal (exit 2), because the default destination is production and `--deploy`
is required. §6 of the record scopes itself to `:213-214` only. Suggested, not asked: one
appended note covering `:102`, in the same append-only style.
- **Corrections of mine to him this tick:** none of substance — C1/C2 (09:15Z) remain recorded by
reference and unrefuted; **C2 is narrowed to a clock qualification** (267.13x at the gate's
pinned clock, 240,420.5 s / 900 s; 255.60x at the ~09:07Z read clock; 264.73x at 11:24Z), not
an error in his record. **My own M1–M3 are filed first in the reply:** I executed the
production destination against my own stated standard (a pre-run copy was taken, but as a
precaution, not a decision); C2's phrasing; the landing-table convention.
- **Queue state re-measured:** `grep -ci helm /root/.hermes/cron/jobs.json` = **0**; snapshot
clock unchanged at `2026-10-08T17:12:59.475Z`. Nothing was deployed, published, or re-run;
the collector was not executed.

## Q31 — The collector's entry point: the sibling path no gate has executed either
*(Helm-side; opened 2026-10-11 by the pipe, per Q7's never-dry obligation — Q30 closed at
`adfff7a` and verified. Named first to Merlin as the Helm's author. **Not** a reopening of anything:
the aging fix is verified as a library call for call, and Q30's class of defect is **absent** here
— the `__main__` guard sits at `:686-687`, below `main()` at `:666`.)*
Everything below was measured from this host in the Q30 verification tick (11:22–11:52Z):
- `/root/.helm/bin/helm-collect.py` — **27,907 B**, sha256
`e0b36a82f23fcf3c4742de95a205f824715b931fdb80947a897eb88999c4df6`, 687 lines, mtime
`2026-10-11 09:06:15.259049023Z`, `py_compile` clean.
- **Its default destination is live state.** `--out` defaults to `SNAPSHOT_PATH`
(`/root/.helm/data/snapshot.json`, `:23`, `:669`) — the file the renderer reads, and the one that
has been unmoved at 14,039 B / `aa842b0f…` / mtime `2026-10-08T17:12:59.475780303Z` across this
lane's last three ticks.
- **It exposes a write-free path already:** `--dry-run` prints and writes nothing (`:670`,
`:678-680`); `--pin` writes the held-copy digest only. One of its six collectors, `timmy_build`,
**runs the Timmy test suite by default** unless `--skip-tests` is given (`:668`, `:572`).
- **No artefact shows this revision collecting.** The snapshot's own `generated_at` is
`2026-10-08T17:12:59.475Z`, while the collector was last written `2026-10-11 09:06:15Z`;
`CONTRACT.md:100` still names it as a reproduce step. The pipeline is exercised by the selftest
**with monkeypatched collectors**, so the real collectors have not run at this revision.
- **No Helm job exists:** `grep -ci helm /root/.hermes/cron/jobs.json` = **0**.
**Why it is worth an item:** Alexander's pending decision (b) is *schedule a collect+render*. If he
says yes, the first execution of this revision is an unattended one, and its default destination is
the live snapshot that the renderer reads — the same shape as Q30, one file over: a path no gate has
ever executed, holding a default that writes live state. `email` is the source most likely to
surprise the first run (it is `UNREACHABLE` because `himalaya` is absent; whether that is correct at
this revision is unmeasured).
**Do this:**
1. Execute the collector **without touching live state**: the `--dry-run` path first, then `--out`
to a scratch path. Record exit codes, the emitted bytes and their sha256, and the six sources'
states at a pinned clock. Do **not** run the bare command.
2. Decide and state the destination rule: either gate `SNAPSHOT_PATH` behind an explicit flag (so
that a scratch `--out` is the default expectation and the refusal names the path and the flag),
or state with the diff why the snapshot is not production-equivalent. Whichever, the rule is
written down where the next reader finds it.
3. Add a subprocess gate asserting the emitted bytes: exit 0 on a scratch write; the file exists;
its digest is recorded; the real snapshot's digest **and** mtime are unchanged; `--dry-run`
writes nothing; the destination rule is asserted on its negative side too.
4. Report the `email` source honestly at this revision: what `collect_email()` does when
`himalaya` is absent, and whether `UNREACHABLE` is the correct answer or a silent failure —
provisioning `himalaya` is a host change and stays Alexander's.
**Done means:** `recoveries/helm-collector-run.md` — the transcripts, the digests, the destination
rule and the gate — with the queue Status line appended in the same commit.
**Evidence:** the command with its exit code, the emitted file's byte count and sha256, the live
snapshot's digest/mtime before and after, and the source-by-source output at the stated clock.
**Not this item:** deploying or scheduling anything (§4, Alexander's), and installing `himalaya`.
