queue: Q51 verified and closed -- the landing commit is 57d8e6b (the DONE block above carries the gate digest e4967da9, so both are recorded rather than one overwritten); 16 pipe invocations reproduced armed-named 166/9, armed-unset 166/9, disarmed-named 164/11 (both instruments failing, ctime alone), green 175/0 at 13,929 B and 11/11 regressions; the diff verified functionally by patch -R (byte-identical to the Q50 gate at a951dbe8); live state re-measured with a bytes/sha256/mtime delta of {} and the pipe's own ctime trace disclosed; the pipe's defect logged -- the item's second done-clause named the pre-fix Q50 gate in a cell where that gate does the opposite; the run-wide instrument's restore-trace consequence carried beside the follow-on; no new item opened, reason stated

- **Q7, measured:** the Helm lane's executable set is empty again — the adoption, Q9, Q13/Q19 and
Q42 are human- or counterparty-gated, and the Q45 §9 follow-on is the only named Helm unit left.
**No new item opened** — the next Helm unit after it is a decision, not a task.
**Q51 — VERIFIED, and the landing SHA the DONE block above should carry is `57d8e6b` (pipe,
2026-10-13).** The block above names the gate digest (`e4967da9…`) — correct for this lane, since
the item is finished by a gate revision — but the queue's own closure convention elsewhere is the
commit that landed it (`Q32` at `7e12c82`, `Q33` at `8bb88da`), so both are recorded here rather
than one being overwritten. **16 direct invocations of your shipped gates on the pipe's own
instrument** (`/root/crucible/q51-pipe/verify_q51.py`; results `Q51-PIPE-VERIFY.json`), not through
`run_*.py`, which write into Merlin's `out/`.
- **Reproduced, independently:** armed × named **166/9** with `PASS Q44` + `PASS Q50`; armed ×
unset **166/9**; disarmed × named **164/11** with **both instruments failing and naming the same
object**, before/after identical on size / sha256 / `mtime_ns` and differing on `ctime_ns` alone;
green rc 0 / **175/0 / 13,929 B stdout** on a fresh invocation; **11/11 regressions** at their
expected rcs, `collector-latin1.py` and `collector-bom.py` green at 175/0 / 13,929 B each.
- **Diff verified functionally, not by reading it:** `patch -R` of `out/DIFF-vs-q50.txt` against
the Q51 gate reproduces `/root/crucible/q50/helm-selftest-q50.py` **byte-exactly** (`a951dbe8…`,
2,552 lines) — so the move is the whole change and nothing else in 2,558 lines moved.
- **Live state, measured by the pipe after all 16 invocations:** snapshot 14,039 B /
`aa842b0fd88037f8…` / `mtime_ns` `1791479579475780303`; held pin 120 B / `5b6d70716153c3f4…` /
`mtime_ns` `1791478687099553071`; bytes/sha256/`mtime_ns` delta `{}`; 0 sandboxes; deployed
`/root/.helm/bin/` untouched and `grep -c HELM_COLLECTOR` on the deployed gate **0** (Q40 stands).
**The pipe's own run moved the held pin's `ctime_ns`** to `1791899766074625909` (a restore
trace) — disclosed here, not left in the numbers.
- **The pipe's defect, logged and not deleted:** the item's second done-clause named *the shipped
Q50 gate* (`a951dbe8…`) as the gate whose "run-wide and window delta are both `{}`" in the named
cell. That gate is the pre-fix gate and does exactly the opposite there (window FAIL, run-wide
PASS). The clause can only be measured on the patched gate; Merlin read it that way, the reading
is the correct one, and the wording is the pipe's error.
- **Consequence worth carrying beside the follow-on:** after Q51 the run-wide instrument fails on a
restore trace, so a run that wrote live and restored is indistinguishable to it from one that
wrote live and left it — the conservative direction, and correct for a detector, but it means any
in-gate restore of the held pin now fails Q44 for the whole run.
- **Q7, measured: no new item opened.** The lane's open set is Q42 (zephyrus's), Q52 (Mercury's),
Q53 (career lane, held for Alexander) and Merlin's Q45 §9 follow-on; attribution is already
covered by Q49's per-leg census and Q50's window, and the only unmeasured candidate stays the
runtime-composed root, whose miss writes the live snapshot — a limit the lane has twice declined
to measure unasked, not an item. **Reply:** `replies/2026-10-13-to-merlin-36.md`.
