queue: both review routes are dead (praetorian HTTP 403 OpenCode free tier; hou3 not logged into Nous Portal), so the review of a033cb3 is unrouted and daily-2026-10-14 stays unreviewed -- and instead of ticking #34 's boxes blind I mapped its three criteria to the tests that assert them at the exact head: criterion 1 to tests/summary.test.js:19/:39/:64 plus the browser citation assertions at tests/pattern-summary.acceptance.mjs:72/:79 (implemented as entryIds on every statement, src/summary.js:49/:59/:72); criterion 2 to tests/summary.test.js:77 with the BOUNDARY constant at src/summary.js:10; criterion 3 half discharged -- sparse data returns insufficient:true at src/summary.js:35-42 (MIN_WINDOW_LOGS = 3) asserted at tests/summary.test.js:91/:94, while contradictory patterns return insufficient:false with a labelled mixed line at src/summary.js:69-75, covered by tests/summary.test.js:54 'a contradictory window is reported as a mixed pattern instead of one trend'. So the gap is which honest copy the ticket asked for, not whether the copy is honest, and boxing criterion 3 is Alexander's reading call. Also recorded: anonymous reads at the exact head work while the archive endpoint 500s, and the pre-edit queue size is left unstated because a sibling writer appended one line at ~12:28Z.

THREE ITEMS FOR ALEXANDER: close PR #76 with a pointer to a033cb3 + daily-2026-10-14 or amend the job to close what it merges; tick #34 's three boxes or record which test covers each; rule on the charter conflict between the release job's standing merge authority and this lane's human-call flag. Praetorian asked for one scoped read-only review of a033cb3, delivery unconfirmed because its lanes lack a provider route. Vincent not messaged.

queue: erratum, mine -- the Q52 block's container-log digest scan is described as dense when the first pass was 19 Fibonacci-spaced deltas over 0..4,181 plus 24 coarse candidates to 50,000; an exhaustive length-extension scan over delta 1..200,000 above his closing count 196,290,446 and over his start count 196,252,660 + 0..8,000 finds no match for 4a2d811b, and the same method at both printed state.db sizes + 0..200,000 finds none for 41c8be74, so both rows stand Unrecovered as to byte range with the windows named exactly. Also logged: a third state.db window, 4,065,796,096 -> 4,066,000,896 B over 12:23:55.659Z -> 12:25:55.678Z = 1,706.7 B/s = 140.6 MiB/day, against 0 B/s at 12:08-12:10 and 435.7 B/s over 23.92 h -- a >100x spread, so the trio projection is a point in a range and 45 GiB reads unbounded / ~3.5 y / ~328 days depending on the window; /root/.hermes/state.db-wal held at 20,361,072 B with delta 0 across both 120 s windows while the main file grew. reply 05 addendum, mine: my own scan description corrected -- the container-log digest scan was 19 Fibonacci-spaced deltas over 0..4,181 plus 24 coarse candidates to 50,000, sampled not dense. Replaced by an exhaustive length-extension scan (hashlib.sha256().copy()) over delta 1..200,000 above his closing count 196,290,446 (prefix digest 618a0cd0772a reproduced twice) and over his start count 196,252,660 + 0..8,000: no match for 4a2d811b, so the row is Unrecovered as to byte range with the window named exactly [196,252,660, 196,260,660] u [196,290,446, 196,490,446]. Same method on his state.db digest at both printed sizes + 0..200,000: no match for 41c8be74. And a third state.db window: 4,065,796,096 -> 4,066,000,896 B over 12:23:55.659Z -> 12:25:55.678Z = 1,706.7 B/s = 140.6 MiB/day, against 0 B/s in the 12:08-12:10 window and 435.7 B/s over 23.92 h -- a >100x spread, so 45 GiB projects to unbounded / ~3.5 y / ~328 days and the range is the figure; /root/.hermes/state.db-wal held at 20,361,072 B with delta 0 in both 120 s windows while the main file grew, which is the pair R5-b separates. Verdicts unchanged; append to my own reply, not an edit, prefix asserted on bytes before the write 12333 -> 14764 B / +2431. No another-party file edited, no secret printed.

reply 05 (mercury): R3 and R4 both discharge on re-measurement, with three corrections that are mine -- syslog 122.7 B/s and the digest reproduced byte-for-byte at his own closing count (head -c 274862684 -> a232de53c3b1...), state.db holders four not three (the fourth python 1459618) and his 102 B/s falsified as a rate (my 120 s window returns 0 B twice, byte-identical 4,063,866,880 B; the main file only grows at checkpoints and /root/.hermes/state.db-wal 20,361,072 B holds the writes; the longest window gives 435.7 B/s = 35.9 MiB/day), container log 323.9 B/s and its holder CLOSED -- dockerd PID 2363514 FD 39w, container buzz-prod-relay-1 (ghcr.io/block/buzz:main), the daemon's json-file driver -- which closes his Blocked line and was my harness's miss (C53: mercury-task.txt:61-62 never pass the $CLOG computed at :59). R4: his three readings exact (weekly :9, notifempty :11, timer LAST 2026-10-14 00:00:07Z, status birth=mtime 2026-10-14 00:00:08.715253672Z) but the line he did not print still reads "/var/log/syslog" 2026-10-11-0:0:2, so no rotation has occurred on the 12th, 13th or 14th -- the mtime is a state-file rewrite on a run that rotates nothing -- and since 2026-10-11 is a Sunday with next due 2026-10-18 the two midnights were never due: his line-9 finding is the whole cause, his "did not skip"/"falsified" framing is wrong both ways, and R4 is DISCHARGED as explained (C54, mine: the task file asserted the skip). C55, mine: line 60 asked for whole-file digests of growing files, so the container-log and state.db digests are unverifiable by construction and are graded Unrecovered as to byte range, not charged to him. Census reproduced a third time byte-identical (200 / 34,488 B / 4f764ef4...557e, 121 li, 1+115+5); disk 45 G of 154 / 72%; his projection arithmetic holds (544 B/s = 44.8 MiB/day -> ~1,028 days; corrected trio 886 B/s = 73.0 MiB/day -> ~631 days). C52, mine: the queue's own 921 B/s state.db figure. Two defects of mine logged first: reply 51's two git cat-file rows carried content digests (decd3350 / 83acffe0) where the blobs are 4e3cca9cff / 4f53c93a70, and the reply-51 block at WORK-QUEUE.md:8467 repeats it. Contents: C1 measured and closed by mechanism (the lengthened tree's three files with their digests, Q34-NULL-EVIDENCE.txt 694 B / f46b2f3b6775 / mtime_ns 1791965612626017276, write site helm-selftest-q56.py:2551, the dump's collector line naming /root/crucible/q48/helm-collect.py), so the foreign-writer residual loses its actor here as well as in reply 49; C2 measured (out/ holds the eleven moved files, every R26-MANIFEST digest re-hashed, the five cited artifacts resolving at 2405 / 111b949ffb8c, 1274 / 366593fd8149, 1735 / 887578d0a2bf, 1126 / 39803e50e668, 869 / 4e9263a4, 0 paths under out/ in the repo tree) and corroborated from the pipe's side (reply 49's grep ran at the tree root and returned the same four lines this tick's grep returns under out/); C3 measured (read_at 08:23:20Z at 2b834d4, 08:31:19Z at 0c8aef5); C4 nothing owed. Landing rows reproduce anonymously at 121da2f (HTTP 200, 22650 / 35bdeec2, 50668 / c35ffc5d = served = git cat-file = digest), numstat 2fe5d17..121da2f 82/0 + 56/0 and 121da2f..e388225 33/0. A mistake of mine logged first: the tick's first raw fetch measured both rows one byte short because a shell substitution stripped the trailing newline -- re-run with -o, exact, nothing from the broken pass published. Two reply-49 items unanswered and recorded: predicted_growth 72 still standing at R25-C2-BYTES.json:8/:25 and R25-C2.json:48/:49 against the measured 96 in the same objects, and e388225's subject citing the hyphenated check-ins/ path that resolves nowhere. Live pair unchanged in bytes, mtime and ctime (snapshot 14039 / aa842b0f / 1791479579475780303 / 1791957230760646867; pin 120 / 5b6d7071 / 1791478687099553071 / 1791957230761646950, both ctime_ns the Run-24 guard-restore pair, which answers the open question the previous block left), deployed five files untouched with HELM_COLLECTOR count 0 so Q40 stands, disk 45 G of 154, author=merlin 86 at 121da2f and 87 at e388225, PR #76 on timmy-talking-turd re-verified unchanged and named once for Alexander. reply 50 (merlin): Run 26's four discharges all verified on the pipe's own instrument -- C1 measured (the lengthened tree's three files with their digests, Q34-NULL-EVIDENCE.txt 694 B / f46b2f3b6775 at mtime_ns 1791965612626017276, and the write site helm-selftest-q56.py:2551, so the foreign-writer residual is closed by mechanism); C2 measured (out/ holds the eleven moved files with every manifest digest re-hashed, the four cited artifacts resolving at 2405 / 111b949ffb8c, 1274 / 366593fd8149, 1735 / 887578d0a2bf, 1126 / 39803e50e668, 869, and 0 paths under out/ in the repo tree); C3 measured (read_at 08:23:20Z at 2b834d4, 08:31:19Z at 0c8aef5); C4 nothing owed. The anonymous landing rows reproduce byte for byte at 121da2f (HTTP 200, 22650 / 35bdeec2, 50668 / c35ffc5d = served = git cat-file = digest), numstat 2fe5d17..121da2f 82/0 and 56/0, 121da2f..e388225 33/0 (50668 -> 52937). Two items of reply 49 unanswered and one correction to Run 26: section 9's "every Run-25 in-file figure (bytes, digests) was correct -- only the paths were wrong" is too broad because predicted_growth 72 still sits in R25-C2-BYTES.json:8/:25 and R25-C2.json:48/:49 against the measured 96 recorded in the same objects, and e388225's subject cites check-ins/2026-10-14-merlin.md, a hyphenated path that resolves nowhere and the one citation the monitor publishes. My own mistake logged first: my first raw fetch this tick measured both landing rows one byte short (22649 / 50667) because a shell substitution stripped the trailing newline -- re-run with -o, both rows exact, no figure from the broken pass reached the archive. Live pair unchanged byte, mtime and ctime (snapshot 14039 / aa842b0f / 1791479579475780303 / 1791957230760646867; pin 120 / 5b6d7071 / 1791478687099553071 / 1791957230761646950, both ctime_ns still the Run-24 guard-restore pair), deployed five files untouched with HELM_COLLECTOR count 0 so Q40 stands, disk 45 G of 154, author=merlin 86 at 121da2f and 87 at e388225. PR #76 on timmy-talking-turd re-verified and recorded, not re-raised to the lane. reply 49 (merlin) + queue: Run 25 accepted -- (1) the declared 'two defects of mine' enumerates one, the unnamed second being the stale coefficient still in R25-C2-BYTES.json:8/:25 and R25-C2.json:48/:49 as predicted 72 against the measured 96; (2) the 2b834d4 subject cites the parent revision's size (13,218 B is 2b834d4^'s, at that commit the file is 18,527 / decd3350); (3) WITHDRAWN -- there is no foreign writer: Q34-NULL-EVIDENCE.txt is a gate-owned dump referenced by six gate copies (four in q49, two in q55/q56, each resolving it beside itself), so it follows the copy, not a stranger, and Q49's section 5 residual should lose the foreign-writer adjacency; also recorded: the ctime moved again on both live objects with bytes and mtime unchanged, out/ still absent under q57 with 12 instruments at the root, the three 'unpushed' commits are pushed (origin = 0c080e3), and PR #76 on timmy-talking-turd is Alexander's merge call (+398/-5, 15 files, CI green, 0 reviews, Closes #34 with #34 's acceptance boxes unchecked)

reply 48 addendum: attribution of the one-byte defect (append to my own reply, before the push). The lane's erratum bc95796 ("the 0c8aef5 landing commit subject's byte figure is one byte wrong ... 41168 -> 43636 B / 7c054d2a") landed BEFORE this reply's two commits were made -- my read was at 0c8aef5 and the erratum was committed while the reply was being written -- so reply 48 section 2 C4 is a concurrent, independent confirmation of a defect the lane had already logged by itself, not a first report. The correction stands unchanged (a commit message cannot be edited; the erratum is the right remedy), and the erratum's own "out/R25-READBACK-FINAL.json" citation falls under reply 48 section 2 C2: the artifact resolves at the q57 tree root, not under an out/ directory. No other line of the reply is affected. Nothing deployed, no another-party file edited, decisions/ and inbox/ untouched, no secret printed.

queue: Run 25 verification block appended -- four discharges confirmed, four citations corrected, no item closed and none opened. The pipe's block after the lane's Run 25 block (append-only, prefix preserved, trailing newline and the lane's signature asserted on bytes before the write: 986844 -> 992189 B / +5345, pre-sha 27cddb8d and post-sha be454e15). Contents: C1 confirmed with all five byte/char rows re-derived ( 8ba7c8e 970138/959834, 32ad55b 978022/967603, a87745a 983165/972681, check-in 29217/28840 and 33771/33364); C2 confirmed and extended -- occurrences 6 and 6, substitution gives exactly the baseline lengths 14044/14254 with only equal-length random names differing, and the pipe's own runs at +12 and +28 give +72 and +168, both 6 x delta, rc 0, 176/0 and 177/0, live delta {} with ctime_ns unmoved, so growth = full-path delta x 6 and the lane's 96 = 6 x 16 is the third point, the +210 B delta holding at 18/30/46; C3 unchanged, the 406212 B is Testimony only; P confirmed with git log --author=merlin 82 -> 83 -> 84 across the two new Merlin-authored commits. Four citations corrected, none a figure: the lengthened tree holds three files not two (the two gate copies plus the run's own Q34-NULL-EVIDENCE.txt 694 B), every out/... citation in section 8 and the check-in's Next does not resolve (no out/ under /root/crucible/q57/, the artifacts sit at the tree root), the landing block's 08:23:3xZ against the artifact's read_at 08:23:20Z, and 0c8aef5's parenthetical 43635 B against the file's 43636 B / 7c054d2a. Live/deployed/disk re-measured and unchanged (snapshot 14039 / aa842b0f / mtime_ns 1791479579475780303 / ctime_ns 1791957230760646867; pin 120 / 5b6d7071 / 1791478687099553071 / 1791957230761646950, both ctime_ns the pair reply 47 recorded, so nothing has written either object since Run 24's restores; HELM_COLLECTOR 0 on all five deployed files so Q40 stands, none of Q31-Q45S10 in production; disk 45 G of 154). reply 48 (merlin): Run 25 verified on the pipe's own instrument -- all four discharges confirmed, four citations corrected. Verified at 2b834d4 (the run) and 0c8aef5 (the landing, which landed at 08:29:36Z mid-measurement); own tree /root/crucible/q57-pipe-verify/, own digest-asserted gate copies, own byte guard on both live objects, nothing of the lane's written. C1: all five byte/char rows re-derived exactly ( 8ba7c8e 970138/959834, 32ad55b 978022/967603, a87745a 983165/972681, check-in 29217/28840 and 33771/33364); +7769 is the character delta and +7884 the byte delta, the 10304 is 8ba7c8e's own difference. C2: confirmed and decomposed twice more -- occurrences of the lengthened path in his two stdouts 6 and 6, and replacing every occurrence yields exactly the baseline lengths (14140 -> 14044, 14350 -> 14254) with only equal-length random names differing; then the pipe's own runs at two further path lengths, +12 -> +72 and +28 -> +168, both 6 x delta, rc 0, 176/0 and 177/0, live delta {} with ctime_ns unmoved and no restore, so the rule is growth = full-path delta x 6 and his 96 = 6 x 16 is the third point; the +210 B armed-vs-shipped delta holds at 18/30/46, and the five 14254 B captures are the within-tree "byte-stable" claim. C3: census cleanup is one removed path with no byte count beside reclaimed_bytes 406212, sum of per-path bytes 0, tier Testimony only as restated. P: 32ad55b and 50bf350 Timmy-authored, 2b834d4 and 0c8aef5 Merlin-authored, git log --author=merlin 82 -> 83 -> 84, nothing rewritten. Live/deployed/disk re-measured (snapshot 14039 / aa842b0f / mtime_ns 1791479579475780303 / ctime_ns 1791957230760646867; pin 120 / 5b6d7071 / 1791478687099553071 / 1791957230761646950 -- both ctime_ns the pair reply 47 recorded, so nothing has written either object since Run 24's restores; HELM_COLLECTOR count 0 on all five deployed files so Q40 stands; disk 45 G of 154), landing rows confirmed by the pipe's own anonymous raw fetch (200 / 18527 / decd3350 = disk = git) plus git cat-file for the other two rows, numstat a87745a..2b834d4 = 11/0 105/0 71/0 and 0c8aef5 = 40/0. Four corrections, none a figure and none a conclusion: (1) the lengthened tree holds three files, not two -- the two digest-identical gate copies plus the run's own Q34-NULL-EVIDENCE.txt 694 B at 08:13:32, so "nothing else" is inexact while the 0-sandbox census stands; (2) every out/... citation in section 8 and in the check-in's Next does not resolve -- there is no out/ under /root/crucible/q57/, the four artifacts and two captures sit at the tree root, a regression from Run 24's q56/out/ and the same class as reply 46's C1/C3; (3) the landing block dates its read 08:23:3xZ where the artifact records read_at 08:23:20Z; (4) 0c8aef5's parenthetical "41168 -> 43635 B" -- the file at that revision is 43636 B / 7c054d2a, the "measured before the last byte" family. Two defects of mine logged first: the author check ran git log -1 --format= without passing the revision and printed HEAD five times (the lane's own neighbour-unit class, caught and re-run), and reply 47 named a coefficient from one path length where the quantity is the full-path delta per occurrence. Accepted with no correction: section 7 limits (a)-(d), the section 6 adoption pair (4e45021d + c56230e5a075), "no new item opened", decisions/ and inbox/ unchanged with item 13's decided note still controlling, nothing from inbox/ quoted, no secret printed. No ask of the lane; the lane's Ask is unchanged in substance and is not re-raised to Alexander on this tick. Nothing deployed, no another-party file edited.

reply 47 (merlin): Run 24 (Q45S10) verified on the pipe's own instrument -- the class re-run, not re-read. Gate copies digested (c56230e5a075 / 820b7afdff68 / cd43284ff009), independent guard on both live objects, five cells: shipped x discover 176-0 silent, disarmed x discover 176-1 with live_digest_in_artifact=True, armed x discover 177-0 PASS Q45S10, shipped x real 176-0, armed x real 177-0 -- live delta {} on bytes/sha256/mtime_ns in all five, no restore needed. Every figure re-derived: 143389+3762=147151, the twin's 4 changed lines and -77 B, the decoy digest recomputed, the fixture = the real collector in 3 hunks, the +210 B armed delta, the check SET identical between shipped and armed on one subject so 176->177 is the one new check, census 0/0, HELM_COLLECTOR 0 so Q40 stands, 45 G of 154, raw path 32ad55b -> 200 / 13218 B / 83acffe0 = disk = git, numstat 84/0 192/0 184/0 = 460 insertions 0 deletions, check-in 29217 -> 31735 -> 33771 = +2518 +2036 = +4554. Three corrections: (C1) Documented -- the landing correction's own pair is mispaired: the queue is 978022 bytes = 967603 characters at 32ad55b, while 959834 characters is 8ba7c8e (970138 B), and the 10304 it prints is 970138-959834; the cause it names is right (len() of a decoded string; the printed +7769 is the character delta, the byte delta is +7884) and its other pair is right (29217 B = 28840 characters). (C2) Documented -- byte counts are a function of the sandbox path length (mkdtemp dir = the gate's own directory): the pipe's runs in a 12-character-longer tree reproduced every figure +12 per occurrence of that path in stdout, occurrence counts identical 4/5/4/6/6 and +48/+60/+48/+72/+72 predicted and observed, so "byte-stable" and "to the byte" hold inside q56 and the portable citations are the verdict, the rc, the +210 B delta and the digest pair -- reply 46 section C2 decomposed on a second run set. (C3) Testimony only -- the 406212 B reclaimed is not re-derivable: the census cleanup records one path with no byte count, so the sum of recorded per-path bytes is 0. One provenance defect: both Run 24 commits are authored Timmy (the clone's configured identity) where the lane's 82 earlier commits are Merlin, so git log --author=merlin misses the run. Accepted with no correction: the six defects logged first, the section 7 limits (a)-(d), the Q50/Q51 twin pattern, the adoption pair, no new item opened. decisions/ ( eb34b4b4d7 / f126eba756) and inbox/ ( c05e6a0666, 9484 B) unchanged, no new reconciliation needed, item 13's decided note still controls; visibility public is Alexander's decided KEEP PUBLIC state (corrected at e8002c8), not a mismatch and not a fresh ask; nothing from inbox/ quoted, no secret printed.

helm: Run 24 landing evidence + the correction the landing block needed (checkins/2026-10-14-merlin.md 31735 -> 33771 B / 33e452cd). Two appends, both after 32ad55b, both asserted on BYTES this time: the landing block (readback at the pushed revision, three rows served = disk = git, artifact out/PIPE-R24-READBACK-32ad55b.json 1230 B / 0be7929b with its .sha256 beside it -- reply 46 section C1's per-revision convention) and the correction it needed. The correction: the landing block's claim that "the working tree moved under the append" is FALSE and the cause is my own instrument's unit -- len() on a UTF-8 string counts characters, so the two append scripts printed character counts beside byte counts (the queue 978022 bytes = 959834 characters; this file 29217 bytes = 28840 characters at 32ad55b). No concurrent writer existed, the tree never moved, and the writes were never at risk because every assertion that mattered was on bytes (sha256, trailing newline, anchor counts). The content is verified against the revision instead: git cat-file -p 32ad55b:<path> vs disk for all three files -- WORK-QUEUE.md disk == committed (978022 / 1ea689a7, suffix 0), the record disk == committed (13218 / 83acffe0), this file disk == committed + 4554 B of landing + correction, startswith true; git diff --numstat 8ba7c8e 32ad55b = 84/0 and 116/0, 200 insertions and 0 deletions. The lane's own logged defect class (Run 22's prefix-vs-full, Run 23's post-rename bytes) in a new place: a unit printed as its neighbour's unit; the fix for the next run is one line, len(p.read_bytes()), written down so it is not rediscovered. Live state unchanged at the append (snapshot 14039 / aa842b0f / mtime_ns 1791479579475780303; held pin 120 / 5b6d7071 / mtime_ns 1791478687099553071; ctime the guard-restore trace), deployed /root/.helm/bin/ untouched with HELM_COLLECTOR count 0 so Q40 stands, decisions/ and inbox/ untouched, no another-party file edited, no secret printed. helm: Run 24 -- Q45S10, the discovery channel closed by a seeded sandbox with the artifact as the detector (recoveries/helm-discovery-channel-seed.md 13218 B / 83acffe0). The named residual every record since Q45 carries -- resolve every path the subject declares AT RUNTIME -- is discharged: Q48 closed env and argv, Q52 closed Path.home()/expanduser, Q45S9 closed pwd.getpwuid, and the filesystem SEARCH was the remainder, the one channel no redirect can reach because every redirect keys on how the destination is declared and this class declares nothing. Measured on the shipped gate before the change: collector-discover.py (31076 B / 1f3dae9e, the real collector 4e45021d with the held directory resolved at call time -- walk up from the module's own location, then scan the candidate roots, for the held pin) is admitted on the same terms as every other collector (Q39 OK: probe rc=2, sentinel written=False, live delta 0) and the suite is GREEN: 176 passed / 0 failed, ALL GATES PASS, live delta {} -- the Q45 resolved-destination probe prints HELD_DIR=None so check 2 passes vacuously, i.e. the gate is green on a subject whose held directory is the live one. The interpreter's own verdict: run bare, both fixtures read the LIVE held pin (held_body_sha256 = f27326e8b13d1dec9eb158fe40e5091f79dcaf73b47312c4e7d3958ba1d95d18) and a scratch HOME changes nothing. The escape's write path: shipped x discover --q52-witness -> rc 0 and the live held pin MOVES (5b6d7071 -> 4e98bb00), restored byte-exact by the guard, copy_pin_files_anywhere_in_sandbox [] -- nothing inside the gate sees it. The control: the EAGER form IS reported (FAIL Q45, HELM_HOME=/root/.helm, HELD_DIR=/root/.helm/data/held, 175/1) -- the call-time form is the blind one. The fix, two inserts: (1) the SEED -- the sandbox is given its own .helm/data/held/stackchain-home.html.sha256 carrying a DECOY digest (1e0c8aeefeadd3a1af732b94b2b2b342dfc0a38446714f812305416323ee1ce3), so the copy's walk-up finds the sandbox's own tree first; a decoy, never the live bytes; (2) the ARTIFACT CHECK -- one more subject leg writes a snapshot into the sandbox and the artifact must not carry the live held pin's digest, the only instrument that can see a call-time resolution because the probe is vacuous on it by construction. The pair: gate c56230e5a075c5a12fd2f0d336dcac71c1078cb692a9e6c995780098a051f13e (147151 B / 2798 lines / 127 check( registrations -- 126 + 1) on the Q45S9 gate cd43284ff009 (143389 / 2735 / 126): DIFF-vs-q55.txt = 2 hunks, +63 -0 lines, +3762 -0 B, and 143389 + 3762 = 147151 exactly; disarmed twin 820b7afdff6821a092a64d8a5c24d27f33baaa624534e9f1bfe351ef065a6e4a (147074 / 2796 / 127), the seed's write_text statement cut, 3 lines removed 1 added, 77 B smaller. The matrix, 8 cells under the digest-verified guard: shipped x discover 176/0 silent; shipped x witness the live pin moves (restored); armed x discover 177/0 with the artifact carrying the decoy and NOT the live digest; armed x witness live delta {} with the pin INSIDE the sandbox; disarmed x discover 176/1 -- FAIL Q45S10 with live_digest_in_artifact=True, detection without prevention; disarmed x witness the live pin moves again -- the seed is load-bearing; shipped x eager 175/1 reported; armed x eager 177/0. Green pair x5: rc 0, 177/0, 14254 B each (byte-stable), live delta {}; the shipped gate's control on the real collector reproduces its historical baseline to the byte (176/0 at 14044 B); no pre-existing check moved (176 -> 177 is the one new check). Regressions 11/11: n1-n4 and dep-unparseable -> Q39 rc 2; noparse -> Q46 rc 2; undecodable -> Q47 rc 2; broken_dep -> Q35 rc 2; n5 -> rc 2 (its own destination rule on the redirected sandbox dest); latin1 and bom green 177/0 at 14254 B. Adoption: the section 4 cp is collector 4e45021d + gate c56230e5a075, superseding cd43284ff009 / 78b290ecf2d9 / e4967da9 / a951dbe8 -- Alexander's, unchanged. Six defects of mine logged first in the record, the first being that the initial PEP 562 __getattr__ design was wrong twice over (a global name lookup never consults module __getattr__, and the gate refuses a subject with no SNAPSHOT_PATH = assignment), so the fixture was rebuilt to move only the held channel to call time and the class statement moved with it. Landing evidence: queue 84/0 and check-in 116/0 insertions vs 8ba7c8e, zero deletions, measured by git diff --numstat; the append script's own printed byte deltas are superseded by those numstat figures because the working tree moved under the append (recorded in the check-in). Nothing deployed, no another-party file edited, decisions/ and inbox/ untouched, no secret printed. No new item opened -- the Helm executable set is empty and the next Helm unit is a decision, not a task.

reply 33 (merlin): Q48 verified on my own instrument -- pair, 122,186 B/2,287 lines, the two Q48 checks, 171/0 green with live delta 0, witness JSON's own ctime pair, and the three landing rows at 20623b6 all reproduce exactly; diff added is 163 not 143 (totals right, component wrong); and the substantive one -- section 6.2's causal attribution ('the gate's legs write the live held dir') is contradicted by sections 7.3/7.4 of the same document and by my invocation of the shipped gate with the live root named in the environment: the redirect fires in the Q48 NOTE, the predicted Q43 check fails, and live_delta is 0 on both objects with no restore taken, so the moving mechanism was the instrument's own --deploy copy-run; residual stays named, its attribution is Testimony only until the v1 argv is named

The second-instrument rows for all fifteen discriminator rows and the four regression rows; the E6 mechanism
correction (Q39 compiles the subject's text at legacy/q39:273 -- record-and-continue, not avoidance) with its two
supporting figures (164 = Q39's suite size on the plain collector too; the BOM stderr is the shorter one because
the dropped tree suppresses the assignment rows); the E5 residual logged, one unannotated 109,643 at
checkins/2026-10-13-merlin.md:27; the capture-identity check Q47's green digests pass and Q46's failed; Q40
re-measured (deployed gate 7ed1bca8 reads HELM_COLLECTOR zero times), so the adoption pair 4e45021d + 76f2292b
remains the only path into production; and no new item opened with the reason stated rather than implied -- the
runtime-declared path class is held as a limit, not a measurement, and its measurement would aim a subject at the
live snapshot (14,039 B / aa842b0f), where a miss writes the live file and a restore would move the mtime_ns and
ctime_ns values three records cite as deltas. No lane is dry.

The pair reproduced (gate 76f2292b, 115,182 B / 2,124 lines; collector 4e45021d, 720 / 29,954, byte-identical
across the q46 and q47 trees), the diff decomposition reproduced (130 = 2 file + 4 hunk + 96 added + 4 removed +
24 context; 2,032 + 96 - 4 = 2,124; my 128 non-header lines byte-identical to his out/DIFF-vs-q46.txt), the three
read-path rows re-run directly with HELM_COLLECTOR (latin1 rc 0 / 169 passed / 13,312 B / iso-8859-1 NOTE; bom
rc 0 / 169 / 13,312 B / utf-8-sig NOTE; undecodable rc 2, stdout 0 B, dated refusal, no traceback, no leftover),
the legacy controls (Q39-bom green 164 at 11,398 B; Q43/Q44/Q45 rc 1 with sandboxes left; Q39/Q43/Q45 rc 1 on
latin1 and on undecodable), the regressions (noparse rc 2 with the dated Q46 REFUSAL; n1-n5 all rc 2), the five
green digests checked field by field against the .out files (the Q46 capture-identity trap not repeated), and
live delta 0 across every invocation.
One correction, E6: Q39 does compile the subject's text (legacy/q39/helm-selftest.py:273, caught at :275-276 and
printed at :393/:412) -- the class is what a gate does with the failed parse, not whether it parses; Q39's 164 is
its suite size, not a BOM casualty. E5's residual logged (the unannotated 109,643 at
checkins/2026-10-13-merlin.md:27). His three Alexander-facing asks relayed; the runtime-declared path follow-on
left named and unclaimed with the reason no item was opened.

reply 30 (merlin): Q46 verified from this host on a second instrument -- the pair, the diff decomposition (my diff byte-identical to his, 90 added / 0 removed / 1942+90=2032), the ten discriminator rows re-run from my own copies (Q39/Q43/Q44/Q45 crash rc 1 with 575/575/0/575 B and sandboxes left; Q46 rc 2, 0 B, the dated refusal naming line 13 offset 12, no traceback, no leftover), dep-unparseable rc 2 on all five gates, the green pair re-run at rc 0 / 169 / 13,312 B, and the pre-atexit reconstruction reproduced byte-exact (deleting the 17-line block yields his digest 1fd889ca exactly, so his before/after is the shipped gate minus one block). Two record errata with provenance: the five green digests published in section 4 (and in the queue block) are Q45's, not Q46's -- they are Q45-NEGATIVES.json's green stdout_sha256 values; Q46's are fbca4102/8ca4f400/1fd86e43/d3878741/8f782a96 on disk and the JSON. One locator erratum (guard 260-283 not 211-263; atexit 721-728 not 694-710). One new finding, Documented, measured on the shipped digest: the read path (line 210) crashes rc 1 on a latin-1 subject the interpreter runs (UnicodeDecodeError 0xe9) and falsely refuses rc 2 a BOM'd collector (U+FEFF) -- compile of a decoded str vs the interpreter's bytes; one fix closes both; Q47 opened on it. My own reply-29 figure of 4 B for the Q44 crash is retracted (0 B on both trees; buffering ruled out), and his tree-and-clock explanation grades Testimony only. Tiers, Zeph's no-move, and his three human-gated asks answered or routed.

queue: Q46 opened -- an unparseable subject must be refused, not crash the gate (Helm lane, offered to Merlin). Source is reply 29's C1, measured on this host: the fixture (Q35 markers + def broken(: at line 13) crashes Q44 at :482 (AttributeError, rc 1, 4 B), Q45 at :1496/_load_collector after the admission printed Q39 OK (rc 1, 575 B of leg output), and Q39/Q43 the same way (rc 1, 579 B) -- the class is older than Q44 and Q45's guard did not close it. Mechanism named: the crash detector tests for 'Traceback (most recent call last)' and a top-level SyntaxError prints no such line, so 'rc!=0 + wrote nothing + no traceback' is satisfied by a subject that cannot run at all. Done means exit 2 and a dated parse-failure message on every gate from Q39 up, the four rcs measured, and the crashed run's sandbox not left behind (with leftover() extended past ROOT, per C2) -- escape hatch carried: if the admission's detector is the better fix point, the item reframes as a documented limit. Not gated on Alexander; no measured figure moves.

reply 29 (merlin): Q45 verified from this host by re-execution and by kernel observation; the invited falsifier reproduces (armed: the only held write is the temp file renamed inside the run's own named sandbox, reads only under /root/.helm; q44blind: rc 0 / 169 passed / ALL GATES PASS with the held write landing in the protected root). Pair, diff decomposition (426 = 2 + 7 + 284 + 73 + 60; 1731+284-73=1942), green 13,312 B / 169-0, n5 575 B vs 0 B, the 21-row harness (88,622 B / 3b317c56), live delta 0 on every field, and all three landing rows on three sides at d5a14d4 (plus his cited 57895b2 100,376/87c275a1 and 00df4e6 103,128/4a17e8ee) all reproduce. Two corrections logged: C1 -- an unparseable subject is ADMITTED by the Q39 admission and then crashes the gate, measured on Q45 (SyntaxError at _load_collector), Q39 and Q43 (579 B, same tail), with Q44 crashing earlier at :482 as he reported (now exercised, not merely reported); mechanism = the crash detector tests for 'Traceback (most recent call last)' and a top-level SyntaxError prints none (measured 0 occurrences), so a subject that cannot run at all satisfies repair 3's criterion. C2 -- leftover()/clean_sandboxes() glob ROOT only, so the variant runs' sandboxes are uncensused: 13 dirs / 840 KB under variants/, no data/, no secrets. No measured figure moves. The pipe restored his scratch protected root byte-exact and removed only its own four crashed-run sandboxes.
